I was *thisclose* to getting the green one, but we decided to get the Boulevard instead and I got the laguna color in that.
DO THE GREEN!!!
I was so bummed to see the laguna color isn't available for the Marathon! I chose the Marathon because it has the lever for easily adjusting the strap height, but does NOT have those super padded flaps on either side of DS's head. He's not a fan of those. So the Boulevard is now in DH's car, as he's not in that car for extended periods of time. But going down a model limited the color choices available.

I love the green!
I don't feel like car seat covers get all that dirty unless you let your kids eat messy foods in the car. Other than the occasional poop or puke incident, I have rarely washed a car seat cover, and my DD had light pink floral ones on her old Britax Marathon seats. My kids's seats usually have about 2 pounds of cracker crumbs in the back, but those just brush out.

A dirty car seat is a fact of life, IMO. As long as it's just stains, etc. and not disgustingly filthy it's never bothered me. If you like it and can wash it either in the machine or even by hand I'd go for it.
I like the green. We had a green infant seat and a green stroller, and no problems with dirt so far!
We do have the Onyx in the Britax Marathon... at the time I bought it, I don't think they had any fun colors other than the Onyx. But really it's fine. We keep the cars in the garage so they don't get hot in the summer, but I could see that being an issue if it's too hot out and it's in the sun.

I think the bright color is great. However, I would get the onyx because of the fabric. We have the onyx and one like the green fabric, but ours is beige. The beige is a cotton material, like a low quality sheet, and it shows stains really easily. The other fabric is more durable and easy to wipe down.
I got the kiwi britax travel system. Green is my favorite color and I couldn't resist. I love it. No complaints on dirt. And honestly, I think black can show dirt just as easily if not more than a color.
