I can't wait for this weekend! I met this really nice guy about 6 years ago while I was out with my friends celebrating my 1st wedding anniversary separated. I stupidly went out on a few dates with him and realize ummm you just separated from an abusive asshole, you need time to get divorced and get find yourself.
Fast forward 6 years later. Dude friended me on fb and we have been talking for almost a week and may meet up this weekend. It's crazy how much my life has changed and yet we still have the same connection we had when we met. I'm not going to rush into anything, but I'm excited to catch up with him.
Also, you ladies are totally right when you say "if he really cares about you, he will still be there when you are ready to date." I totally thought of you guys when he said he often wondered if we would ever cross paths again!

That's a nice update abcdefu. Hope the reunion goes well
I am looking forward to closing out my work week. I have two friends from hs visiting this weekend and want to get some rest before they arrive midnight tomorrow.

I have to work all day, I get to go home, eat, take the dog for a walk and then go back to work for a meeting at 7:00. I just stay there until it ends. LAME!
A week from today, FI leaves for Ecuador for two weeks, then a week and a half later, I leave for GREECE!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!
My foot is still really hurting. It only hurts sometimes when I stand or walk, never when I'm sitting or lying down. I'm going to a wedding this weekend, not sure if I will be doing much dancing.
I started reading Wuthering Heights and I am enjoying it. I've seen movie versions but I'm really appreciating the book as a separate thing. I'm in the mood to read some beautiful writing. I also figure that the windswept moors of Northern England are an escapist contrast to the bright, humid days here. I probably wouldn't want to read this book in February.
I'm terrified, because I'm gonna suck. And I am like a little kid and throw tantrums when something doesn't come to me easily. Hell, I've had this bass for 2 and a half years before I finally got over myself enough to take lessons! But it's something to do. I've played several instruments throughout the course of my life, and I sang, so I've not some sort of natural proclivity for this stuff. I've never played anything with strings, though, so this'll be a totally new experience.

gozf I am inspired you are taking up a new instrument - I have been toying with the idea of restarting my french horn playing (after 8 years) so I can play in a local orchestra. Something to do.
I totally get pissy when things don't come easily to me which I think holds me back from trying new things.

I played the french horn for a year in middle school! Flute was my primary instrument, but there was a lack of french horns in the concert band so the music teacher (from whom I also took private lessons) volunteered me. In retrospect, I wish I'd stuck with it. French horn is pretty cool.
I saw a flute for sale in an antique store last weekend, and I almost bought it. Then I remembered I never much liked it! I was good at it, so I kept it up from 4th-11th grades. I never really enjoyed it, and I was happy when my mom let me quit my senior year.

Also, you should totally pick up the french horn again! You liked it, and you'll meet fun new people, too! Win-win!

Ironically I originally wanted to play the flute - I even bought an inexpensive one to learn with and taught myself a couple songs. But I liked fhorn better.
Thanks for the support, I will look for an orchestra to try to motivate me to practice
Cute work dude that I've been into off and on for months ... has been re-opening conversation recently. I'd asked him to happy hour almost 3 months ago casually and it never went anywhere so I dropped it.
We were bantering via email today and I was like "Buy me a drink and I'd tell you, that's not a conversation for work email!" when he asked me why I thought my birthday sucked last year (post Boston trip) ... and he said "Ok, Let's do it your birthday week." (Birthday is the 29th.)
This could be friendly work friends and that's all. And it could be he's finally picking up on the flirting? LOL. Oh well. It made me smile regardless.

Hopefully it was flirting! If not, at least you get a free birthday drink from a cute guy'
My group project partner just does not get it. Any of it. He asked what work he could do and then said no to my suggestion. All he makes are horribly formatted slide decks with info cut and pasted from websites. I'm doing all of the project work on my own but I'm ok with that because now I can claim it as my own for a portfolio.
I called out sick from work. I slept late and then decided to head to target, bed bath beyond and trader joes. I closed the door and realized that I locked myself out. No car keys, no house keys. My neighbors and the maintenance guy were trying to help with no success. Just when I called the locksmith, my neighbor with an adjoining balcony came home. Thank god!! He let me come through his apt and climb over--thankfully I left that door unlocked. I don't even really know this neighbor or his wife, except by face. I feel like I should get them a thank you gift or something.
I had to cancel my Seattle trip today. I'm kinda bummed because there are a lot of posters from there I would have liked to meet. But the hotel costs were getting silly and this was supposed to be a somewhat cheap trip using miles for my flight. Everyone can be jealous now because I get to hang with jigsy and mp next weekend.
There will be inside jokes for WEEKS!
You are gonna be in Cali??? Why am I just hearing about this now?
I went and updated my Meet Up profile. Goodness it was old. From when I was still living in Zurich. :/ There is nothing within 20 miles of where I live. Well like 6 groups but nothing of interest.
All the singles and single woman groups are in the town an hour away. Which I drive to enough for stuff but just seems silly to join a new in cityname. When I don't actually live there.
