You know, I was just getting back on the Jenna Sue train, and then she had to go crazy on her master bedroom.
2 Textured plaster walls 1 Tongue and groove wall (this is the 4th or 5th space with at least one tongue and groove surface) 1 Board and batten wall(I think that's what it's called? The grid of square trim) Beadboard ceilings Ceiling beams (not real beams - you can see the 3 pieces of wood and there's metal brackets in the middle) Simple, rounded edge builder grade moulding around the door. Square edge modern moulding around the window X frame built-in cabinet doors Planned crown moulding for the whole room
Is she a blogger? I think this is what happens to everyone who blogs, they all end up in this weird space where everything has to be way overdone just to gain clicks.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the idea of can lighting in a bedroom. I mean, you get into that bed and look upward, you'll be staring directly at a bare lightbulb, right? Ick.
Just because you you like it doesn't mean that it all belongs in the same room. Or the same house. Which is why I told DH that we need 75 more houses so that I can decorate in all of the different styles that I like. ;p

Yup. Nestie turned blogger and graphic art etsy shop owner.
She jumped the shark a while ago with planking all the things. Yep, it's way too much. Kind of distracting to have all that going on in a bedroom too. Idk, just seems not restful.
I agree too about the can lights. Not what I would want in a bedroom.
Yeah that's a lot and the simple accessories actually look cheap to me and make the whole thing even more distracting which I think was the exact opposite of her intent. (I mean what's up with the wicker basket on the wall as an end table?).
Has she done a complete 180 stylewise or what? I never really followed her and really stopped paying attention when she left, but that doesn't seem like typical JennaSue to me. Fill me in girls!
I may be making this up in my memory of all things read, but it seems like she said in one of her posts that she enjoyed the beach theme in their FL house so much that she wanted to carry it over to their new CA house without it being too much. Like I said, I could be completely wrong in this. If that is the case, though, maybe she things adding these other elements removes a layer or two of beach, but it's just so many kinds of wrong.
I stopped reading before they left Florida and have only been following the CA house for a couple of months, but I also remember her saying that she loved the FL house and wanted to keep some of the coastal vibe, but another post talked about how she wished they lived in a log cabin and that's why she wants to plank as many walls as possible.
I think the new house is a strange mix of coastal, log cabin, rustic, and IKEA modern. It just makes no sense to me and this master bedroom is making me twitchy.
She'd be better off upgrading the molding around the door and the door itself (I'm guessing it's builder grade hollow core).
Snark: I agree, but changing a door from hollow to solid doesn't make a pretty photo.
Well, now that you mention it... in her foyer, she put wood veneer over a crappy hollow core door and added strips of plywood trim to make it look like a solid core door.

It's just the way the blog world has evolved to be. It's all about perfect appearances, not reality.
I rarely go to GOMI, but DD1 was having a hard bedtime last night, so I ended up sitting in her room for a while on the internet. Holy Crap! Did anyone see the post about Design Mom's son's twitter??
I seriously developed a nervous, uncomfortable twitch looking at today's pictures on the blog. I am normally a huge fan, but it's just way.too.much. The dresser, the TV, the bench, the wood barrel, the trim, the beams, the plank wall, the wardrobes, the blinds, then panel wall, omg omg omg, just stop. Please.

I like the "style" of jenna sue's house b/c I gravitate toward blues and grays, but her execution isn't what I would do.
That said, I would love to plank one wall in our master bedroom.
I remember thinking that it was going to be too much when she first revealed the plan for the room. I actually read through the comments on the blog to see if anyone would say anything, but nobody did. Now that she's gotten it almost done, I feel like my intial thought was right -- it is just too much. I thinka feature wall is fine, but more than one and there is nowhere for your eyes to rest.

I know! She's got some great shots in there to showcase just how crazy she went. And, and and! Just wait - there's more to come! She's going to bring one of the textured plaster walls to life! :?
I can't unfollow until after the formal reveal of this room because I can't take my eyes off the trainwreck.
She seems very nice from what I remember on TN but yeah, she's gone overboard. I know I'd be the same way if I had a blog & handy husband, I'd start loosing my focus & just want to do all the things for clicks & positive feedback. It's too bad, I liked her first tiny CA house...the others 2 not so much.

I think the post has been deleted. Weird. His twitter was deleted too though. It was CRAZY racist, sexist and not at all like the perfect twee image she paints of her family on the blog. Man.
This was on her Instagram account. This makes me so sad, because I do not like hating on Jenna Sue, but if this goes in the bedroom... I might have to start up the hate train.

I can't read her blog because to this day, I associate her with being the poster who never wore underwear, even when trying on clothes, and someone started calling it "jepperson"-ing (her old SN) and then she changed her SN to jennasue.
