We live in the Midwest, and am 23 weeks (first time mom). I want to go on a trip with DH before the baby comes but don't have a clue on where I'd like to go or what I'm willing to spend.
Relevant facts We are not "campers" or hikers.
Would want to go for 3-5 days.
Flying is fine (we prob have enough miles to buy domestic tickets or most of an international flight or two), as is driving.
Enjoy eating out, taking in scenery/people watching, some museums, shopping, warm beaches
I have enough Marriott points for over 2 weeks anywhere in the world at one of their luxury brands (meaning, I prob have enough points for a month at a courtyard )
Together, We have been to Seattle, Portland, NYC, Chicago, New Orleans, Miami, Boston, San Antonio, Yosemite, and Naples FL together.
Together, we have been to Rome, Positano, Zurich, Bern, London. I have been to Portugal, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo, Montreal, Bergen.
I had a dream 2 wks ago where I woke up blubbering that my mom told me I wouldn't be able to travel again once the baby came.
I am not interested in going to Mexico but am not opposed to a long flight for a few days to a single city or returning to a place we've been.
we went to southern california and loved it. We stayed at a hotel with a spa (got a prenatal massage), went for lots of walks, hung out, ate great food, relaxed. it was great

San Diego.
It has most of what you are looking for.
Enjoy eating out--we have a ton of restaurants and little hole in the wall joints. Taking in scenery/people watching--Mission beach and Ocean beach are great for people watching. Lots of nature to check out- La Jolla, Tide pools at Cabrillo National Monument, Balboa Park. Museums, shopping, warm beaches--Balboa park has a ton of museums, the zoo, outdoor organ concerts, cultural events and The Old Globe Theater. Lots of shopping scattered around the county plus a ton of farmers markets. Beaches- Coronado, La Jolla Shores, Del Mar, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside.
First of all, I would highly recommend traveling before 32 weeks because in many pregnancies it gets uncomfortable to walk after that point. So you have about 8 weeks.
I ditto San Diego or Banff or Lake Louise, though Banff is really outdoorsy which you may want to save for not being pregnant.
Can you swing 6-7 days? Then I would go to a Hawaiian island.
I wouldn't go off the mainland- I have a friend of a friend who went on her babymoon to hawaii (early- like 32 weeks), had some complications and wasn't allowed to fly until after delivery so they had to stay there until the baby was a few weeks old and cleared to fly.
Although it would not be ideal, it is possible to drive back from southern california if you had any complications. That's why we picked it!
There's so much to do in both San Diego and Orange County! I think it's the perfect babymoon
I really like the San Diego idea! I hadn't considered that before - I would love to see the San Diego Zoo too.
I forgot to add above - we went to the Big Island, Oahu and Maui for our honeymoon! Love them...
We could probably swing 5-7 days. I have plenty of PTO but DH is super busy this fall and might have a hard time with it.
Bring very comfy walking shoes if you end up in San Diego and want to do the zoo. Its built in a series of canyons and there is a lot of walking/climbing but there is a decent amount of shade and its a good way to spend the day.
I would vote for somewhere in the Caribbean like maybe Turks and Caicos (though your Marriott points wouldn't work there) or somewhere in the Virgin Islands (a couple of islands have Marriott properties). We just got back from Belize and loved it but again you wouldn't be able to use your hotel points.

Turks is a great idea. I saw lots of pregnant ladies there and the beaches are relaxing and calm. The only downside is that is one hellish airport to fly into and out of. So small, stuffy and uncomfortable.
