I just drove by the MB in Salem, MA and complied with the signs that said Honk for Artie T!
The stop and shop near my house seemed normal to me yesterday, but there isn't a MB close by for competition or anything like that. MB shoppers are most likely not relocating to the S&S near me.
I really hope that they take the offer and Artie T is able to buy the company. I think that will be a great solution because the family members get the $$$ they wanted from selling the company and Artie T will keep the same corporate philosophy of the Market Basket that we have all grown to love.
I would love that to happen, but I strongly doubt it will. Don't forget that Arthur T and his side of the family screwed Arthur S out of millions and millions of dollars for a long time before it was hashed out in court in very ugly fashion. They won't let him have the business back so he can be the hero.
My bet would be that they sell to one of the other bidders.
Yeah, he was going to sell in 2011 to a New York company but it (obviously) didn't go through. It's so complicated and it's been a family feud for so long and people are really just hearing about it now but it runs deep and goes beyond what is in the news. I hope those people get to work soon I feel badly for them, I'm sure they weren't making a ton of $ to begin with, now their families are at risk without $, it's so difficult. Hopefully good news will come this week.
I've never seen such loyalty within a company. The CEOs of other companies must be rubbing their hands in absolute glee over all the money they're making off ex-MB shoppers. It's really sad. I love to shop at MB
They're now hiring and they hope all employees return to work 8/4. They are all welcome back without penalty. If they chose not to return they will be replaced.
The vast majority of the walk off employees are from headquarters , not the cashiers and stockers from individual stores, the ones likely not making much $ and likely don't have much $$ to be out of work.
I feel for the employees who are showing up everyday.
And a 12 year old girl was brought to the protest yesterday and hit by a car and critically injured. No one did anything intentionally, but she is still badly injured .
I stood with the MB associates for a while yesterday and last weekend. I feel terrible for them, their hours are being cut and they are uncertain of their futures. I hope this week brings some good news.
OMG I can't take it anymore! I had to go to Shaws again and it was insane. And we only got enough stuff for like 2 meals because I can't find anything and their prices are so much more. I really really really want things back to normal soon. Just sell to Artie T, will you!!!!
It seemed like an empty lot before we left for 10 days on vacation. Now there are maybe 20 cars in the lot, likely the picketers. We were hoping things would be resolved before we were back. DH is running into Trucci's now on our way home from the airport for bread and orange juice and I guess I'll hit Stop'n'Shop later, which I hate because they've been rearranging all the aisles.

I want market basket back. I went to two stores to shop the sales. First was shaw's and I almost bought a case of beer to break out during shopping it was that bad. Then I just went to stop & shop which was calmer but total even with sales I spent another 20% more than I would've at market basket. And I stocked up on some items too which may be skewing the prices a bit.
30 days in! I never thought it would go this long. I live I an area with lots of Market baskets in low income areas. No one is shopping at any of the Market baskets!
I went to the customer rally last night and an elderly woman in a house dress asked to speak. She said her food stamps don't last the whole month and she needs market basket back. She was a fabulous speaker, best of the night. She brought to light how people are suffering.
