What's your roast of choice? Are you brand loyal? Do you do flavors? Do you have a grinder? How do you brew? How much are you willing to pay for perfection? (by the cup or by the pound)
All this post is reminding me of is that I'm going to have buy my own coffee equipment real soon.

Kicking Horse - Kick Ass (from British Columbia) No, we've been using something local that was gifted to us, and we like to try new things No flavors. Yes, we buy whole beans whenever possible. We either make espresso or use our French press, which is an 8 cup Bodum. Our favorite is $20/lb but that is probably the top of our range.

You do not need all those things...but a coffee pot and start from there!

Are you brand loyal? Yes, mostly. I prefer a local roaster, but in a pinch Illy will do.
Do you do flavors? Hell no. The smell of flavored coffee brewing makes me nauseated.
Do you have a grinder? Yes, a burr grinder.
How do you brew? Cuisinart drip coffee maker. It has a 12-cup pot but a setting for 1-4 cups so it brews small amount just as well. It's the best gift stbxh ever gave me.
How much are you willing to pay for perfection? (by the cup or by the pound) I think the most I could see myself doing is $20/lb.

Sumatra or any other dark roast. Depends on what it is. There are certain brands I prefer and others I avoid. Ewwww.....no. I have 2 burr grinders and 2 blade ones. The blade ones are now spice grinders. We have a French press. Just bought a new one this morning because the old one broke last night. Around $12/lb. One of the local steak restaurants will serve a French press pot of coffee after dinner. I keep meaning to ask what coffee they use, because it is outstanding.
