So my original doctors office ordered HCG draws and progesterone at 4 weeks because of our loss (at 8 weeks) in April. My progesterone was 26. I switched practices (for lots of reasons) and just had our viability u/s last Friday at the new place. So far, baby is looking good. I requested the new office draw my progesterone again, although the dr said he didn't love the idea since he thinks sometimes this can cause unnecessary worry since otherwise everything looks good so far (but it did before my m/c as well). Well, he called this morning and progesterone is 20.5. So, still normal, but less than before. I asked him lots of questions, but he doesn't think I need to supplement at this time. He said it's still normal, and that progesterone levels can vary a lot each day, and that there's no evidence that progesterone supplementation is effective in things (other than IVF). I don't really have much experience with this since my first two pregnancies went off without a hitch. Does anyone with more experience have any insight? Would you request supplementation?

I honestly would not and I was on them for my second pregnancy (which ended in a loss at 8 wks...I started suppositories at 19DPO) and this pregnancy (simply as a precaution and I was going through a RE). Your values are normal and progesterone does vary throughout the day. I was put on them for the 2nd pregnancy only because my level was 14.85. Honestly, the progesterone will not prevent a m/c...it can only help when the level is not in the normal range.
But, if it would provide you with peace of mind and reassurance then that's something to consider as well.

Wishing you all the best! PGAL is so hard.
Thank you! Yes, the difficulty of PGAL is something I would never wish on my worst enemy. My mind is out of control!
Mine was unfortunately quite low (7) so I am on supplements.
Do you have any sort of evidence that your previous miscarriage was due to low progesterone?
Thank you for your response. No, we don't know what caused our previous m/c. It's just one of those things - I feel like it's so out of my control that I'm trying to control something, KWIM?

I totally get it, trust me. I had 2 m/c before this pregnancy. Both had a heartbeat as well so statistically not all that common. Getting pregnant again was somewhat terrifying at first but yet you find a way to make it through it each day, taking it one day and one appointment at a time. Try to find comfort in knowing that your doctor is really optimistic, hopefully your first truly was bad luck, and this little one is here to stay!
Hang in there! Once 1st tri is over it gets much easier! ((hugs)) Sorry you are going through this...unfortunately there are many on this board that have (or are) going through exactly what you are...you are not alone!

I have been on PIO (and used to also be on Crinone) for my levels. We've been trying to wean me from PIO and am finally down to .5cc nightly. A couple weeks ago I was completely scared because I went from 47 to 19 (I get levels drawn every Thursday) but then I went back to 32 and then this past week was 27. It will drive you insane seeing the fluctuation, trust me. I'm quite content being on PIO the entire pregnancy but my RE is trying to get me off of it. We'll see.

Do you have another visit scheduled for first tri?
I'm sure it's hard but I would try to just trust your Dr on this one. Your level is still good. I was on PIO since we did IVF and HATED every minute of it. My level at one point was 60 so I don't think I actually needed to be on it, just more of a precaution. I never knew what my level was once I got off it because I didn't ask my Dr for details on my numbers. I just did what she told me.
