One of H's coworkers took his car to the dealer for maintenance - it was something fast and simple like an oil change that they did while he was waiting there. When he got home, he realized that during the whole hour that they had his car, the dealer had removed his alumni license plate frame and replaced it with a dealer plate! He drove back there to demand wtf they thought they were doing and to get his frame back, and they told him they had already thrown it away.
After hearing that story, I always check before I get in my car if it's been repaired at a dealer! If someone wants to advertise on my car, I'm getting a cut.
I've previously had "I'd rather be shopping at nordstrom" (as a teenager lol) then "still looking for mr right" (when I worked at Disney) then "if you aren't first, you're last" (quite from Talladega Nights).
Right now I have one from DH's dealership, even though it's a different brand of car than what I drive. I just consider it free advertising for DH's dealership, but I would never keep the dealership one on from a random place.
I'm actually kind of pissed at myself after reading this. We were annoyed the dealer put a sticker on. It never occurred to be to get them to take if off! Plain chrome plate holder.
This torques MH off. I have personalized plates on my mustang, and they are the state university plates because they match my car. The default ones are ugly. Anyway, my alumni plate holder is silver with blue writing, which doesn't match. I could get plates for my university, but it's the wrong color and I can't personalize them.
Who the fuck are these people at the dealerships who think it's even remotely okay to remove something that obviously cost money and was deliberately placed there and replace it with their shitty cheap advertisement? Ugh, I'm mad for some of you!
