We are already down quite a few people with this acquisition so I'm really not sure what this means, other than more long nights and weekends.
There's nothing wrong with telling a recruiter that two bosses and an HR higher up (I think that's right?) have left and the job is very different than what was promised.

I love how they appeal to your maturity and strength (yet show none of their own), and look for a meaningful reason behind all of this. This is happening for a reason sure enough, but probably not for the sappy, bootstrap, teachable moment reason they're alluding to.
When I was teaching in NC and a coworker quit mid-year to go drive the bookmobile for the library he said it was "God's will." Yep, there was a "reason" behind that too and we all had to use our maturity and strength to cover his absence.
