I try not to do it too often because I sweat SO much, I smell, my clothes get wet, my pants get the lovely swamp ass line in the crack, etc. I like to go straight home, or if I have to stop it is just quickly for gas or something. But I did go grocery shopping this week after crossfit. It happens like 4 times a year.
So far it sounds like I'm in the minority who do it daily. It isn't really a choice for me not to do it due to my work/family schedule. I was debating how gross the people I see at daycare think I am.

I wouldn't hesitate to do errands after a cooler weather workout but when I am sweaty and go in an air conditioned place (like the grocery store) I get SO cold and goose-bumpy. And I think the worst part is when my bra is sweaty. If I do have to stop somewhere, I may switch shirts and put on a heavy tshirt or sweatshirt . And if it's really bad, I'd go braless. Classy, I know.
I usually don't, only because I'm almost always headed home after a workout. Sometimes I will after my long run, but I've usually had breakfast w/the running group (we're always dripping with sweat standing in line to order food), so for the errands afterwards, the sweat has at least dried. Every now & then I'll have to run into the grocery store on the way home from a run, and I hate that! Not so much because I care about what people think, but more because my gross, sweaty, ass is freezing as I pass by the refrigerated sections.
I go out with DH for a sit down breakfast after every long run, before showering, and am a sweaty/swampy mess. Last week, I noticed that there was a sweaty butt print on the booth seat after I got up to leave.
Other than that I don't really. I don't have kids so I don't really have errands that are time dependent. Since I run from my apartment, I just hop in the shower when I'm done.
Generally, no. Only if I swing by the store on my way home.
Drives me nuts when I see athletes walking around Lake Placid the days before Ironman, wearing their cycling kits, even sitting at a restaurant having lunch. Ummmm... it's not an outfit!

I will occasionally go to the grocery store after the gym. After my long runs I usually pick up breakfast but I usually wipe down myself with napkins to get the sweat off my face. I don't have to be anywhere usually though after workouts and I usually run to/from my house so I shower than go back out.

Oh if we take into account preschool pick up, then I am a nasty beast. During the school year I run while my little is at school and pick her up without changing almost every day. I guess I don't consider them "the public", LOL. I just tell them not to get too close
I put on a dry shirt and rinse my face (sometimes) but yes, I routinely traipse around in public in my sweaty workout gear. last weekend I went to CVS, the post office, the gas station, the farmer's market, and subway post long run and pre shower.
if I go to the gym after I take the subway home in my workout clothes with a dry shirt. I probably wouldn't do this if I was heading home at the height of rush hour but by the time I'm getting on the train it has cleared out significantly.
I do it and don't mind- quick stop at the grocery, to get gas or post-run chocolate milk at the convenience store, etc. I am such a sweat faucet though that I can't imagine going out for a leisurely lunch or browsing at the mall, etc. but not because I'd care what others thought- I'd just feel gross and wouldn't be able to fully enoy it!
It depends, I wouldn't have gone out after my long run on Sunday cause I was soaked. But we went out to breakfast after my race on Saturday, I just threw on a dry shirt and figured they wanted our money
After hot yoga when my clothes are legitimately soaked through, I always shower and change quickly. Any other workout, I am fine to stop by the store or whatever quickly.

I do it and have no shame. H is super anal about not doing it - like he won't stop by the grocery store on the way home from a run until after he showers. If I have to go somewhere I can at all, I'll put on a dry shirt and that makes me fell a lot better.
Do you do it? Does it embarrass you? Do you see others doing it?
Brought to you by me showing up at daycare for like the ninetieth day in a row in soaking wet running clothes.
I'm with ya! I do this on the reg on Saturday. My schedule goes something like this: run early, brunchish with running friends, shopping of some sort (grocery, errands w/e). That mean I'm 110% in public in my state of sweaty mess.
It doesn't bother me one bit. However, I have to say that at least 25% of the other people I see out on Saturday's are in the same state.
I'm definitely known for going to Target on Sunday mornings after my long runs in my running clothes. I'm not the only one-and I like to think that the people who side-eye me are also the ones who stay out of my way and help me get done faster

I do it if I need to, but not for a long period of time. I run in to grab some stuff that's local, but I won't drive to the grocery store (~25 mins). I went into a local clothing store recently, but it was 30 mins after I worked out and chatted with someone, so I wasn't sweaty anymore and obviously I didn't try anything on. I needed to pick up a present so I went in, bought it and went home.
I used to a lot more. It's just the timing of when I work out now vs. before kid. If I workout over lunch, I have to shower to go back to work. If I go in the evening/after kids to go bed, I will take a quick shower before running to Target usually. Sometimes I don't.

It would be nice if I could get away without showering immediately, but I can't get in the shower fast enough after I work out. The sweat pours off in embarrassing quantities. A puddle forms if I stand still.

I don't love doing it, but I do it sometimes. My long runs have been ending in a neighborhood with lots of shops and restaurants, so I'll stop into a few places to pick up snacks, coffee, and other things. If I had to drop my kid off in the mornings, I would have to do it before showering. No shame.
