We used them through our alumni association. The tour was good - no complaints. HOWEVER, we booked our airfare through them and got an awful itinerary. Basically they want everyone who flies to show up at the airport at about the same time (we went to Italy), so we were traveling like 20 hours when there were much better itineraries online if we had booked our airfaire separately ourselves.

I haven't used them for travel but they were one of my accounts that I dealt with when I worked at a hotel in Denver. All of my interactions with them were fine and their local staff was awesome.

We used them for a tour of italy a couple years ago and they were great. We loved our tour guide and bus driver! SInce my husband and I travel a lot, we don't typically go on guided tours. However, it was me/my husband, my parents, and my 80 year old grandmother, and we thought a guided tour would be best/easiest for her. There were people of all ages on our tour, and we had a great time with the group.
We booked airfare on our own, but I do remember hearing complaints from those in my tour group who booked through globus, similar to what PP said.
A couple things to think about to decide if a tour is right for you...usually very early morning wake ups, but you do get to see a lot of the highlights of wherever you decide to go. They do pretty much all of the thinking/planning for you. Usually you have afternoons and evenings free. A lot of time they advertise optional tours, but we often did not go on them because we wanted to explore the cities a bit on our own. The hotels aren't usually right in the city centers, but usually a 10-15 minute walk away. We don't mind walking so this did not bother us. The hotels are decent, not amazing, but clean.
I used to work there as a "tour consultant" lol, and then worked in the air department. This was over ten years ago though. I still have some friends who work there.
Anyway, back in the day the Globus tours were geared more towards older people (with more money) and had more hand holding style guided tours, whereas the Cosmos brand was more budget friendly and provided more free time. I would go on another but would lean more towards the independent city stay type trips that offer optional guided tours.
We went on a Greek cruise earlier this year - not with Globus - but we did end up on excursion busses with the Globus group several times. Their guide seemed really good.
