I am 38w pregnant, I can't walk, I can't drive, and now the dog had diarrhea on the carpet four times (including twice in the nursery). I had to call off from work today to take him to the vet (by this I mean have my mom drive us). I was already going to have to leave early to get my mom to her dentist appointment this afternoon.
My mom is walking around complaining about how exhausted she is, like she does every day. I feel bad because she is doing everything for me, but I kind of can't take it anymore. I told her to stay in bed and I'd find someone else to take us to the vet, and she went off on me saying I needed to be nicer to her.
I think our carpet is ruined. I'm not sure I can deal with getting new carpet 11 days before my due date. I want to take a break from life, and I haven't even had the baby yet.

We use nature's miracle on pet stains (they sell it at the big pet stores). Our pup has a very sensitive stomach and we have more experience than we care to in the poo clean up department. I am sorry you are having such a shitty (pun intended) day. I hope that the rug cleans up ok.

Do you use the spray? We have the urine destroyer, but I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about. Does it remove the stain too, or just the smell?
Big hugs, rbp. The last weeks of pregnancy are physically trying even without everything you've described. Can you outsource the carpet stuff- find a housecleaning expert or someone who can do the heavy scrubbing while you are at the vet?

Thanks. I'm not sure what we're going to do about the carpet. Maybe we just need to have a professional cleaner come out, but we haven't been happy with our carpet cleaning services in the past.

Our carpet was a darker color, but first I tried to get up as much of the mess as I could with water and a sponge then dried what I could with paper towels + newspaper and standing on the spot. then I gave it a good spray with the natures miracle (just the regular stain and odor remover formula). let it sit a bit and did the paper towels/news paper standing on the rug trick some more. Repeat as necessary.
I'm so sorry . Even without experiences like that, I was absolutely miserable from ~38 weeks on with DD. I think it's normal to feel incredibly frustrated and uncomfortable. Maybe it's a natural way to prepare our minds for labor ahead ("I don't care how much it hurts I just want it OUT!").
I'm sorry. This sounds like a job for the professionals, mostly so you don't have to deal with it on top of everything else! I wish I had a recommendation for you. Maybe post on the listserv? I hope this week gets better for you! As a side note, our house is all hardwood or tile, but for some reason whenever my dog needs to throw up something particularly nasty, it's always on a rug! I hope the pup gets feeling better soon.
You really are having a rough go of it. I'm so sorry, and I hope you forget all about this mess when the baby is here.
I was thinking this morning that I wish I would just go into labor so that would at least take my mind off all this other shit (haha) for a few days. That's kind of mean, though, because Biscuit is going to stay with the ILs while we're at the hospital, and I don't want him to mess up their house either! I think we need to break the crate back out if this persists.

Huge hugs. I'm not broken right now like you, but I completely sympathize feeling totally overwhelmed. I won't hijack your post, but know you're not alone in feeling this way.
Can you do something for yourself soon? Can you get a prenatal massage or something? What's your DH doing to help?
Oh man. This is the pits. I hope your dog gets better so your life can get a little easier before the baby arrives. What about renting a heavy duty steam cleaner from Home Depot?
Thanks ladies. Biscuit went to the vet and they couldn't find anything really bad like parasites, so they called it GI irritation and sent us home with antidiarrheals and bland food. The trouble is that I needed to come with my mom to the dentist (she doesn't live around here--she's been having some dental issues and has been coming to my dentist, and she is not comfortable driving in the city alone). We hadn't crated Biscuit in so long that I had no idea where the crate was, and I was loathe to have my arthritic mom crawl around in the attic looking for it. H is usually more helpful, but he was at a job interview today.
I really didn't want to let Biscuit roam around the house when he's already had diarrhea four times and puked once on the carpet. So...I called my ILs and asked if we could bring Biscuit to their house while we were at the dentist. (Isn't this horrible--"hey, my dog has diarrhea, can I drop him off at your house?") good thing they like me! I really hope he doesn't make a mess in their house or get their dog sick. :-$
Thanks for all the carpet cleaning suggestions. I'll talk to H about it tonight since he's all done with his interview. Maybe he can steam clean this weekend, or maybe professional cleaners will be the answer. Having the carpet replaced seems like such an ordeal right now!!
oh man, you are a trooper!! It's too late for today, but if he's still having issues tomorrow and you need to go out, can you confine him to a bathroom? Then he'll have more room to get around (and not have to lay in his poop if he has an issue) without putting more of your carpets at risk. Ugh.
For the carpet, we LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bissel Big Green (google to see where you can rent it near you) and were amazed at some of the stains it got up. Old stains that were there from *before* the last time I rented a Rug Doctor. Also, if you're looking for just a good spray to "spot" clean, I am obsessed with Woolite + OxyClean or OxyDeep or something. We get it at the supermarket, and it has cleaned dried blood off of white carpet. It's amazing.
