Your mentality makes a lot of sense. I don't think I could do it, probably because I've worked with so many trauma victims and survivors.
Ugh...I've been on that side too...it was much harder to leave that at the door than this is.
It used to be much harder to leave at the door, but most of the time I do a good job of leaving work at work. Days that are particularly tough mean I need yoga or to go get a massage (15 min chair massage, foot reflexology massage...) and that usually works.
I'm actually really excited. My coworker and I are doing a training about TF-CBT to all of our coworkers tomorrow. I nerd out about things like that.

lol....I'd love to get some training that would actually be interesting!

You don't have to answer on here if you don't want, but are you a therapist? If so, I can find the link for the TF-CBT training. It's approximately 10 hours, all online, and free. My coworker and I are just going to talk with everyone else at the school so they understand this particular type of therapy and what the kids might go through and the behaviors they'd see while kids are doing this. I'm so excited to do it.
I just ran 3.15 miles. In this heat and humidity. Although it was not as bad as I thought. I feel as though I'm sitting in a pool of sweat now. I'm waiting for my heart to stop racing before I go up to shower. Blech!

Nope, I'm a social worker. I'd be interested if it's open for more than just therapists, though!

Well social workers can be therapists too! I know several people who are becoming LCSWs. I'll pull up the link and PM it to you.

*cough cough* doriswe doesn't know ANY LCSWs. Nope. None. Zero.
I'm not even sure how I could become a LCSW....do I want to be one?
**Sidenote, when I was with BFF a few weekends ago, I was talking about going back to school (again). This is probably not the best time, but maybe it would open new doors?

It depends on what you want to do. It is good for therapy and administrative jobs related to therapy settings. Also, you have to check your state because not every state has LCSWs. Some states they are called other things. In NYS, you have to be a LMSW and be supervised in a therapy setting for 3 years under a LCSW. Then you have to take a test.

I've been considering marriage counseling...but can't really be sure that opens any new doors for me, in this area at least.

Once you're licensed you could go private practice part time, which would open opportunities for you in a different way. This is the point I've reached, needing to figure out how and when I want to get into private practice.

Talk to me like I'm 4, if you have a private practice, how do you manage with health insurance and all of that nasty grown-up stuff?

Again, it depends on your state. In NYS, you have to be an LCSW-R to bill commercial insurances. Right now, I could only bill Medicare and Medicaid. However, you can also accept private pay clients and circumvent health insurance all together.
