I have it this time, and I didn't last time. It's not really painful, just kind of uncomfortable and awkward to be burping all the time. Plus, I'm worried about the acid damaging my esophagus, since it's so frequent (happens every time I eat or drink anything). Even though my first tri nausea is going away, this seems to be getting worse.
I've had it both previous pregnancies. I took some Tums and they helped a bit but only in early pregnancy.
The biggest thing that helped me was no dairy. Sad and hard to do but it really worked (*not concerned about calcium intake - my bone density is very good even when I'm off dairy).
Also, later in pregnancy cutting coffee has helped.
I am sure some other ladies can give recs for any OTC meds that have worked for them. I read a thread on this a while back and someone said Aloe Vera juice (juice! not gel) helped them.

I have baseline reflux. I take Prevacid 15mg even when not pregnant. I upped the dosage to 30 mg partially through my 2nd tri and have maintained pretty good control over my reflux. I use Zantac for break through.
Talk to your ob about recommendations for a regular antacid. There are a lot available OTC and most are safe during pregnancy.
I take a Zantac 150 in the morning and 1 in the evening, per my GI's advice. I had reflux pre-pregnancy and it hasn't bothered me this time around. When I was pregnant with DD, I felt it more and took papaya enzymes in addition to the Zantac.
I mostly have been taking papaya enzyme extract but the other day it was so bad, like I could feel the acid splashing up and burning my esophagus, that I had to take a Pepcid, which worked great.
Started with Tums, then Zantac then Prilosec. If I had to do it again, I would go straight to the Prilosec. I also had to eat frequent small meals instead of larger ones.

I took Pepcid the last eight wks of my first pregnancy and pretty much my entire second pregnancy. It helped immensely. I took one a day and a second at bedtime on particularly bad days.

I had it bad with DS and took Prilosec and just now starting to get it regularly with #2.
I'm just doing tums right now but they aren't helping much lately so I'll be back on an antacid soon. Oh and dairy Is definitely one of my food triggers since I just ate a bowl of cereal and now wondering where the hell are my tums.
Hope you can find some relief soon. It hurts like a bitch sometimes!

I am also taking 2 zantac daily. And I immediately notice if I miss a dose or am late to taking it. I take a dose of tums mid-day if I really need it, but those alone really do nothing to help.
Earlier on, if I tried to eat something I had an aversion to, it would cause more reflux. Also you should not lay down or recline after meals or drinking. Anything but water- even decaf tea, was better at keeping it down for me.
I have pets and a kid, so I bend over a lot. That is no good for reflux. It's a hard transition but I do my best to put stuff up and pick somethings up with my toes on occasion, or ask DD or DH to do it.
Dr put me on nexium. It really had gotten bad starting a few weeks ago. I was going through 6-9 tums a day. Now I only have tums when I can't stop burping. Nexium does seem to make me burp more but it seems to decease the discomfort.
Tums, Zantac, frequent smaller meals, don't eat too late a night, sit upright for a while after eating, count down the days until you give birth so it will end! I was soooo relieved to find the reflux ended immediately after I delivered. I remember eating a huge McDonald's meal shortly after delivery and finding it such a relief to not have the reflex afterwards!
My first meal after delivery was a big plate of spaghetti. It was late, and I went to sleep right after. Not a single burp or symptom. it was glorious. I had really missed red sauce!
