That space would drive me nuts. It looks pretty big too which makes it even more awkward to decorate. I would probably do a tall glass vase with some rocks and bamboo, maybe a candle but probably not, or lemons and limes.

What about, like making it it's own little space? Hang a large shallow copper bowl or plate or picture kind of low and to the right of the light switch. And then a collection of 3 large in width candle sticks off different heights...some pretty little cooking oils or something just for show. Homegoods has all that kind of stuff. Or if you do want to keep the liquor, they have little wooden shelves, that are like cabinet organizers so they would be at different levers and easier to see? Idk, that's a tough spot!
Also aloe vera plants are hard to kill and are useful if you burn yourself in the kitchen!
I've killed several. It just takes practice. I vote that if you want it to look more organized / less Mad Men bar (nothing wrong with that, at all), get a decorative wine bottle holder so things are nestled there more neatly.
Otherwise, grab some ice and tongs and make yourself a 'doing the dishes' cocktail.
How much sunlight does that area get? A nice potted orchid would look great there as long as it doesn't have a ton of direct sunlight. They are VERY easy to take care of--just a bit of water once a week. Their blooms last forever--especially if you get one with buds on it. I think it would look spiffy there.

I know you said you don't have a green thumb, but that area is ideal for an herb garden. And if you plant hardy ones, like rosemary, sage, chives, parsley and thyme, you'll be a-ok!
Orchids! It's a perfect spot for them. Water them once a month using warm water. Don't let the water touch the leaves and give them a good soak. It's the only thing I can keep alive
