Does it change his profile drastically? I can assume so with an underbite and crossbite. Glad to hear he's in good hands with good surgeons on his team. I'm hoping for a quick and relatively pain free recovery!
Oh wow. Best of luck to you and him on Thursday and moving forward! I'm sure he's really excited about how he's going to look and feel when it's done and he's finished with the recovery process.
Wow, that sounds amazing. Here's to a total transformation that will change his bite and his life forever (says the gal with the BMW worth of dental done in the past five years that finally *kind of* corrects some of the damage caused by TMJ, clenching, poorly aligned teet and a cross bite when I was younger.)
You're a great mom to have this major work done for him before it causes much more serious problems in the future. I would love to see before and after, but I totally understand the lacka. Can you sketch if you can't do photos?
Good luck to him and you. The first part, a LeFort advancement, is what I had done in my 20's. Yes, it's dramatic the aesthetic difference. I got mine done at a dental school and all the docs working on my case took my photos with them when they graduated from their fellowship, lol.
Wow! Good luck to your DS2! I hope his recovery is quick!
I was told that I should have a similar surgery. My top jaw is too long and too much gums show when I smile. They would cut off my jaw, shave it down, and re-affix it with pins. I would love to have a nice smile, but that elective surgery sounds too intense! I'm not sure I'll ever do it. But for your DS, with the back teeth not meeting, I can see why it would be worth it!
