This is a problem I hope to have in a few days, so I need some advice now---and you ladies are the best.
Last week I had 2 interviews on 1 day. They are for 2 separate positions in the same department of my current employer (I currently don't work in this dept--but I work very closely with them and have established good relationships.)
Job A - Brand new position. Interviewing internal and external candidates. There's a lot of unanswered questions, but I would essentially own a whole process/project for our school and would love the opportunity to run with it and develop some strategic relationships with stakeholders across campus (and with the state gov't.) Interview went really well. They have invited me back for a 2nd interview the 1st week of August. I think I have a great shot at this. If I got this, it would be approx a 10% raise. There would be some nights/weekends/travel involved, but this would be minimal and only during busy cycle.
Job B - It's a step above what I do now. Not terribly new, but more responsibility. I'll also be more on strategic planning side and less customer/escalation interaction side. Interview went great, they're only considering 3 internal candidates, and they told me I should hear by end of this week. Will be about a 5-8% raise.
They know I'm interviewing for both, as the lead interviewer for Job A was also on my panel interview for Job B. If I were to get an offer for B, what's the best way to ask for more time to be able to interview for A? I'm not even 1000% sure I want A over B, because there are so many unanswered questions about the new position--so I'd like to be able to attend the interview to learn more about it.
Final question - Job A will have a busy season of roughly Feb-May. I'm pregnant (no one knows) and due 2/6. So, ummm......should I address this? On one hand, if it's my top choice I don't want this to negatively impact my odds (as I believe it will.) On the other, is it a dick move not to tell them if I know I'll be out during the first busy season of this new role? Will that burn too many bridges?
Any advice is helpful!
**update**
So I just got the offer for Job B. I asked for a few days to think about it, and let her know that I was also interviewing for Job A. She understood, so I asked for a week to meet with the hiring manager of Job A (not to interview, but to ask the ?s I had about the position) to determine which one I want better. Either way <)
