I've been having consistent dark brown spotting for weeks now. I've been brought in twice for sonograms and all is okay. The spotting finally stopped a couple of days ago.
I am at work this morning (in my WHITE pants) and I feel a gush. I run to the bathroom and bright red blood everywhere. I think there was a clot but it was a self flushing toilet so I'm not sure of the size.
I called the emergency line of my doctor's office and they're sending me to maternal fetal medicine now but mentioned a SCH.

I had bleeding from 5 w- 6 w, pretty significant clotting and red. I had a U/S at 6 weeks and they saw it was a SCH. I was put on pelvic rest and was told no vigourous exercise, etc. It resolved on its own and was no longer visible by the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. They are pretty common, most likely you will be put on pelvic rest if you do indeed have a SCH.
First of all, deep breaths. Spotting or bleeding during pregnancy is always scary, but doesn't always have to be bad. I had a SCH during the beginning of this pregnancy. I was spotting brown from weeks 5-10 with an occasional episode of red bleeding. Around 6.5 weeks I had a gush of red blood and pronounced bleeding. I rushed to the ER, convinced it was a miscarriage, but sure enough baby was fine. I was diagnosed by my regular OB with a SCH the next day. I was put on an exercise restriction and pelvic rest. I was seen weekly from weeks 6-10 while I was bleeding more for my own peace of mind than anything else. By the NT scan at 12 weeks, the SCH was gone and my restrictions were lifted. I'm 34 weeks now and the rest of my pregnancy has.thankfully been very uneventful. ((Hugs)) Hang in there!
I had the exact same experience with my son around 9 weeks. Gushing blood and all. Turned out everything was fine and it petered out after a day or two. I was on pelvic rest for two weeks after.
i had one, but shockingly never bled/spotted. however, my doc did tell me to stop all exercise and rest as much as possible, which i did (for the most part, i still did light exercise). it resolved itself between weeks 7-9, if i am remembering correctly. hope yours resolves itself quickly.
Yes in both pregnancies. First time around it was bleeding 6-10 weeks. This time I had a large rupture at 13 weeks and I'm on blood thinners so it looked like something out of a horror film when it happened in my car. I bled for 6 weeks and it got bigger before it got smaller. I was on a modified bed rest for the first 3 weeks or so. It's so annoying and nerve wrecking.Right before 18 weeks I just stopped bleeding and it cleared up. Hang in there and stay off the google!
I had a large bleed at 13 weeks, bright red blood and soaked through my pants almost to my knees. Of course it was a Friday afternoon so I spent my evening at the ER where they easily found the baby bouncing around but were pretty dicey on details about the SCH. I was on bed rest through the weekend and saw my OB on Tuesday. They agreed with the SCH diagnosis and were so much more relieving on details. They didn't spot any others in my ultrasound and told me it was most likely exaggerated by taking baby aspirin (that I was on from having a previous msc) I had a little brown spotting for the next few days and it was gone. Of course two weeks later I had some spotting start back up, it was luckily just in time for my next regularly scheduled 16 week appointment. This time they saw a new SCH, no bed rest this time, and they are hoping it will be resolved in the next week. I can go back in any time I want for an ultrasound but the spotting has tapered off and so unless something crazy happens again I will just wait for my 20 week appointment.
I guess I just want to say this is common but most often the bleeding has no impact on the baby.
Maybe. I had some major bleeding at 5 weeks. Bright red, clots, heavy flow, etc. The baby ended up being fine and my bleeding tapered to brown spotting by the end of the day, but they never figured out what the bleeding was from. Possibly a SCH or I lost one twin (we'd done IVF and implanted 2 embryos). I was terrified though and was sure I was having a m/c
Hugs to you, I hope everything is ok. I'm sure it's nothing, but bleeding is always scary in pregnancy. Keep us updated!
She updated on our home board (not GBCN). She didn't give me permission to update, so I don't feel comfortable blabbing her business here. I will say that she needs all of our thoughts and prayers, even more than she did before :/
sassafrass - Thinking of you. I have been spotting and bleeding for most of my pregnancy (since week 9)....First SCH then complete placenta previa. I'm sorry you are going through this and hope everything is ok.
