If you go the Keurig route, brew your own coffee. Most KCups blow. Use the Ekobrew with an EZ Cup paper filter. Grind the coffee super fine (think espresso) and pack that Ekobrew's ass with coffee.
Listen to Wambam! She is wise in the ways of the home fillable Kcup! This is what we do and it works great.
I'm glad I took the time to figure this out. I feel like I've touched so many lives lol.
Oh, and for easy frappe-like drinks, I make coffee ice cubes overnight out of the coffee we didn't drink that morning.
Put in the blender, add milk and any flavoring syrup (I like SF vanilla) and blend. Works pretty good. And no added ice to water it down.
And the silicone ice cube trays work great for this since they are more bendable and each cube is 1 oz (so it is easy to figure out how much fluid you will end up with.
So right now (maybe always, I don't know) if you order one of the Platinum brewers and sign up for auto delivery of the coffee you get the brewer for half off. So that makes it cheaper than even the cheapest model. Code is AUTO50. I'm planning on doing this today and then just cancelling the auto delivery after a month because I don't want to pay shipping on that every month.

I tell DH at least once a week that he needs to pack the grounds more because "that is what one of my online friends says you have to do!" He just rolls his eyes at me. But agrees that makes all the difference.
incogneato We use the refillable Kcups and compost the grounds and little filters. So for us at least, it isn't any different that using a regular coffee pot (where we compost the grounds and filters). And when we have to use the cups (when we have company and only need one cup of decaf), we cut it open and compost the grounds and filter and then put the aluminum in the recycling bin. The cup itself still goes in the trash though, which isn't ideal.

I have one of the bigger Keurig's (the plain black model with two cup sizes. I only use the bigger one though) and I brew my coffee into a metal cup and pop it in the freezer for about 15 minutes or so then load a tumbler up with ice cubes and cream and pour it over that. Or I'll brew it the night before and stick it in the fridge overnight.
I'm just going to share that I've owned 3 Keurig machines. I was an early adopter, so I've had the original model, the one a few models after that with all the options and now have the mini. Every single one has started "short-cupping" within 2 years. The most recent one was at 13 months, which I believe is just outside warranty. At almost .60 cents a K-Cup, I'm done with them. Looking into Nespresso.
