If my laundry was dirty, I would wear dirty shorts before I even considered pants. Or just stay home. Maybe I'll acclimate over the next few years and start doing it too?

LOL. I've recently seen a woman running in my 'hood wearing shorts and a long-sleeve shirt. That's what I wear when it's in the 40s. It's in the mid-80s to 90 here right now. People are crazy.
I saw a lady running on the Mt vernon trail in pants, long sleeved shirt, and a hijab in the middle of july. all I could think was, 'damn, that's some kind of commitment. if I was modest it'd be all curves (or similar) all the time for ebeth.'

Yeah, I'm guessing religion or just culture. I have known a couple people who without fail wear pants to workout just because they don't feel comfortable ever showing their legs.
I was thinking maybe a modesty/religious reason too. Even if she's more liberal without a head covering she may feel the need to wear long pants. That said; it sounds rough!
However, it was about 100 heat index here Monday, and I still worked in long pants. I don't get quite as sweaty as I do running, but it was still hot, hot!
I saw a lady out running yesterday evening wearing a hoodie and long leggings.
I assumed she was trying to sweat away water weight. I've seen a large man walking a trail around here wearing a full sweat suit too, with seat pouring off him. Neither struck me as religious outfits, but who knows. It's mid 90s here and 100% humidity.

I would be more likely to think modesty/religion in Dubai than in Houston Then again, I would also for that reason find it less crazy in Dubai than in Houston!

I saw a guy running with a black long sleeve shirt on Monday at noon. It was the hottest day we've had here, with real feel around 100 and dewpoint around 75 at the time.
But they're all certainly much warmer than wearing shorts.
Not necessarily. DH owns a pair of ventilation tights which are designed to offer compression as well as to keep you cool. He wore them for an Ironman marathon on a hot day. Best IM run he's ever had!

WHY
wrestler? i remember in high school /college they would run wearing hoodies in the middle of the day.
but funny, i had the same thought as Brit at 4pm this afternoon and I saw a lady running in black leggings. It was 116 degrees outside.
I do have some arm and leg coolers that I wear mostly on the bike. They have built-in SPF and they really do cool you down, just like running through a sprinkler would. But I don't think they have the same effect when it is humid outside.

I honestly hope the people doing it to lose water weight [wrestlers/whatever] are being careful with it. A friend of a friend recently ended up in the hospital on life support after running outside in crazy heat/humidity in sweats trying to drop weight. His body shut down and he ended up needing a liver transplant -- that he got, but his life will never be the same. It's a real reality check!

On a lighter note than ^^
I cannot compute people running with extra layers when its stupidly humid! I'd run in panties before I wore full pants if it was laundry day. Or, more likely, I just sit on my ass.
Yes, I see those people, and it makes me want to die on their behalf. But I aim forr as little extra clothing as possible, and I also will ditch the shirt when it's this hot and humid.
I also want to share the gospel of good sports bras with women who I see running with insufficient support, but I never do, because that would probably be creepy.

I actually knew the guy. He works at my company, but in a different department. My coworkers who I was with at the time to go get lunch said he does MMA or UFC type stuff, so it made a littttttle more sense.
But yeah, I remember the wrestlers in college on the bikes in full sweat suits.
