Background: My grandparents live in the condo above me (we live in a 4 unit building). My grandmother is in home Hospice and has 24 hour nursing care.
2 nights ago I was asleep when my phone rang at 4:30am. It was my grandparent's phone number. Of course my first thought is, "This is it. My grandma is gone." When I answered, the nurse said, "Emilie? Hi, this is Wendy, the nurse upstairs. So, yeah, the air conditioning isn't working and it's really hot up here. Could you come up and see if you can figure out how to work the thermostat?"
DH was awake by then so I let him know what was going on. So, I got up and got dressed and went up to their place. And yeah, it was hot. At 4am it was still 82 degrees outside and the thermostat read 90 degrees. After a few minutes of half-awake bumbling with the digital thermostat, I looked around for my grandpa asked the nurse where he was. She said, "Oh, he's asleep. I didnt want to wake him up in the middle of the night."
WHAT THE FUCK LADY! So it's ok to wake ME up at 4am, scaring the bejezus out of me, to fiddle with the thermostat, but you can't wake the homeowner himself, who actually knows how the damned thing works? Every fucking window was closed so I told her that I had no idea what the issue was, to open some windows, and if it still wasn't working, to wake my grandpa.
Turns out a condenser line was blocked and someone came out in the morning and fixed it.
