Say you were 39 weeks pregnant, at what point would you call your H to come home from work?
My H just went in for an OT shift at the firehouse, only until 8pm. I'm having contractions but I'm not convinced this is "it". It's been an hour that I have timed them, averaging 7:27 apart and averaging 48 seconds long. The last three were 4.5-5 minutes apart and about a minute long. Lots of tightening, pain is there but tolerable. I'm typing through one now. They clearly build and then go away. This morning before my dr. appointment I had period type cramping. I was 3 cm and 50%.
If I call him he will find coverage and run home. I don't want him to have to leave for a false alarm. :? For what it's worth, H works about a mile down the road but if they are actually on a call it could take a little while for him to get home. It's not like I feel like I need to go to the hospital or anything right now. I feel like a FTM, with O it was so clear when I was in labor. I wish my water would just break and then I'd know!
Hmmm so hard to say. I had two friends give birth at home recently while waiting for their babysitter to come because things changed quickly.
Does he work tomorrow?
I would be very tempted to call him and just have him home.
The good news is the fire station is a mile down the road so his coworkers could come deliver for you if things escalate! Haha
He works a 24 hour shift tomorrow, starting at 8am. My Dr. this morning said don't wait around too long at home. Once I know it's "go time" go! If only I knew what go time was!
I would die if his coworkers delivered me. I could never face them again lol

Hmmm, tough call. I'd probably call him and give him the heads up if nothing else.
At 4 I told my H I was having a few contractions, by 6:36 I was holding a baby, if I hadn't been at the hospital already I probably wouldn't have made it. My labour with D was 16+ hours.
Ahhh!! We are having a baby soon!!! He can always scoop you in the fire truck and use the sirens to stop traffic
This, lol!
I would call him to give him a heads up. How long was your labor with O?
About 14 hours or so (3 pushing). When I woke up in the morning I was very clearly having contractions about 5 minutes apart. There wasn't really any question just waiting for them to get more intense.

Umm...everyone else is scaring me with their stories. I would call and see what he thinks.

Just want to throw it out there that with Ruby I was like "meh, should I go back to the hospital? I'm not really sure..." and when I got there I was 7cm and had a baby very quickly. I'd tell your H to be on high alert!
Oh, and I LOVE team green but only when people are actually in labor. I can't wait to hear!
H has been called. He is not running home but did let his dispatcher know the situation and I'm going to give it another 30 minutes or so and call him back. I also should give my dad a head's up since he's 45 minutes away but would have to face rush hour traffic.
Still about 4.5-5 minutes apart but the last two were shorter in duration.

I'm surprisedno one has said this yet... Have you tried walking around, drinking water and taking a shower to see if things seem to continue or stop? I knew it was serious when I tried walking around the house and bouncing on the yoga ball and nothing seemed to help. Good luck

I was actually thinking of your story! I would love to arrive at a 7

Does this help? Both my labors were about the same length. The only difference was the amount of time spent pushing and labor stopped for a couple hours with Lyla.

Good points. I'm drinking a lot of water. Getting up and walking around causes worse pain and an almost constant crampy feeling. O should be waking up soon but I can try the shower when she does.
Sounds promising for a new squishy soon! I'm normally a pretty laid back person and would say just give him a heads up. However, with all of the board stories maybe he should come home? You have a dilemma!
