Does anyone have a sofa brand they would like to recommend? I saw the posts about Ashley Furniture issues with quality and customer service and will definitly stay away from them!
Ideally I would like a reclining sofa/loveseat for our family room, would like to spend around $2000ish (we have a toddler and pets). I'm open to non-reclining, but must it must be supportive for tall people.
I had sat on this one at a local furniture store (on sale for $1500 for the seperate sofa and loveseat). It was super comfortable but my husband thinks they are too ugly and that we will get sick of looking at them. The reclining sofas that have more modern looks don't seem as comfortable.
Leather and has power reclining-we got the sofa and loveseat. They are very comfortable. AFW has great customer service, prices and I think they will deliver anywhere in the US.
I got mine from Kincaid, it was about $1800 and I bought it 10 years ago. It still looks pretty good, other than the arm where one of the cats used it as a cat tree.
We're going on 2 years with our Ethan Allen leather with no issues. I've noticed a tiny bit of "loosening" I'll call it on the cushion we use the most, but that's mostly when it's warm then it tightens back up as it sits vacant. No scratches in the leather from the dogs, although we did the scratch test on the samples because different leathers do scratch differently.
We have a recliner from lazboy that is also doing well after 3 years, other than the fabric pilling some. But that's going to happen with fabric.

I have never considered a reclining sofa simply because I don't really like the look of them. Most do tend to look bulky, and I've got much more traditional taste in furniture--but I can DEFINITELY see the appeal of them (I think down the road our basement might be blessed with that kind of sofa). Fabric quality is one of the biggest factors in driving costs, so the higher priced (and usually quality) fabrics tend to create more expensive sofas. So, I'd be leery of a really inexpensive "leather" sofa. I do have brands that I like more than others, but off the top of my head, I don't recall if they have any reclining sofas. Klaussner might be a brand to consider--it's entry level furniture at the entry level price point...and most of it is at least finished here in the US so it's got some level of QC behind it. BTW the only reason a retailer might come into play is if something gets delivered damaged or wrong. Macy's, JC Penney's, PB--they aren't making any of the furniture they sell, they are just re-selling it. Knowing who originally manufactures the furniture (and WHERE can be helpful as well) is really just as, if not more important than who the retailer is. HTHs!

Whatever you do, get leather. It is so easy with the animals. And I don't have toddlers, but I have teens, so almost the same. I have something similar to this but in an L-shaped sectional with three recliners. Oh, and get the power recliner option. So much easier to deal with. If you're in the greater Boston area, I got it at Jordans.

Mine isnt this exact one, but really close. It's Futura (I think ... something like that). It is super comfortable. And it reclines almost flat. I love it. This is mine:
