I am not a medical professional but I worked for the National Cancer Institute (part of NIH) for several years and learned a lot. One is that cancer never starts in the liver, it's always metastasized from somewhere else. Where ever the cancer originates (i.e. colon) is the type of cancer she has.
You can call 1-800-CANCER or go online cancer.gov for lots of info on treatment, coping, clinical trials.

Flexi, this is exactly what my friend's H has right now. Metastized to liver, lungs and when they did surgery on his colon last week also on his inner abdomen and pelvis.
As to type of cancer. Most likely it would be a met to the liver if she has a known colon primary. A primary cancer in the liver would be a Cholangiocarcioma which is an adenocarcinoma of the bile ducts outside and or within the liver. Primary liver cancer is called Hepatocellular carcinoma.

This isn't true, it's not common as metastatic/secondary liver cancer, but there are primary liver cancers.

thanks for correcting me, it's been many years since I worked for NCI and that is what I understood back then but I don't claim to be a doctor or give medical advice.
Thank you to all the "elders" who have seen me through a lot. And thank you to all the "not-so regulars" for your kind words. I deeply appreciate all of your support.
