Don't you feel kind of liberated though? I'd feel kind of liberated. I say do your own thing from now on. That neighbor probably won't even look at you ever again.

I feel scared. The whole street is a clique, except two (now three, including us) houses. They are ball-swingers, too. Lots of opinions and super nice until you are not their fave. Thing is, we so want them to like us so we have civility. Home is peace, you know?
That I understand. Everyone has a bad day - hopefully your neighbor remembers that!
Full of delicious food and after a week of 8-10 hours of sleep every night, I'd donkey laugh at someone who told me MORE THAN ONCE what to do with MY PROPERTY. Fuck you, you self-righteous meddler. Fuck you right in the ear.
On the plus side he's unlikely to mention your garden again. If I were you I'd just go on as usual and act like nothing out of the ordinary happened.
I know this seems like it should be likely, but I am sure offhand remarks will be loudly made to their spouse while we're outside. I absolutely plan on acting like nothing happened. I'm not REALLY going to garden in a thong.
If that happens, drag your H outside and start making loud offhand remarks about how your garden is looking so perfectly English in its wild and rambling manner. Just how you intended.
I almost did something like this to our next door neighbor, only DH was there to stop me. We've only lived here for 7 weeks, so it's bound to happen fairly soon. Feel bad for my H.
I feel your pain. 8 houses on our cul de sac. 7 are like your neighbors. one isn't. We're the one.
I'm going for nice, not picture perfect. We're gone to the lake every weekend and I absolutely HATE yard work. I do not like to do anything about yard, flowers etc. I want them, I just don't want to DO them. Our neighbors yards win prizes, seriously. Their garages are completely cleaned, floors are finished and not just concrete.
