My h refused to "let" me take him until he was pretty much walking. They have pretty hard floors and he was convinced o would do his topple backward thing while in there. I see babies that sleep in their car seats the whole time because they're small enough to do that and the mom says she wants them to. I think it'd be hard to sleep in there, so I bring him during awake times.

Oh, and they always write down where I'll be and they can come find me or page me. I chose the branch I go to because the gym and child care all on the same level so I can see in there while working out.

I'm glad you brought this up. They don't take kids until 6 months at my gym and she just turned 6 months yesterday (omg!) I pretty much have to go in the evenings so km wondering what the protocol is.
I started going when M was 8 weeks old. I would bring him in carseat and just let him chill, some times he was awake and some times he was asleep. As he got a little older (3-4 months) they would take him out of the carseat if he was up and fussing or just wanted to look around. I love the ladies at my gym daycare so I was fine with them holding him.
They never have come to get me but if they can't get your child to calm down for some reason they just come find you.
I highly recommend it. It would be a great break for you.
When did you first start using the gym day care? 6 weeks old
Do you bring your LO during awake or nap times? Most of the time it was/is awake time. When he was that little it was a crapshoot. They'd put him in the swing a lot or if he was sleeping when we came in they'd keep him in the car seat.
What is the protocol if your LO needs you while you're there? They come find me.
Good/bad experiences? We have only had one bad experience with staff and that was when they changed a policy and expected everyone to know about it without saying something (they started making everyone scan their card instead of just putting down the ID number). I also work there PT, so it was NBD for me to say something to the director. DS has been going there 2-3 times a week for 2.5 years now and we love the ladies who work there. They love DS too, which is pretty neat.
We are Life Time Fitness members and their gym day care is incredible and the best I have ever experienced. They have an infant room for children 3-12 months with a ration of 4 babies per adult. You must make a reservation to have your baby there and they have all the toys and activity things -- swings, etc. Then they have a Tot room that is HUGE for those 3 and under. Then there is all the other kids who have this huge multi room space. My kids LOVE going there and beg me to go every day. This has been our BEST experience with a gym day care.
I usually plan to work out after I have given our baby a bottle and they are ready for a morning nap. I don't like to have the caregivers feed them but they will if you give them a pre-made bottle.
I used it a couple times with DS and once with DD. We're not members and it just didn't fit with my schedule very well. I'm not sure on ages, but it was before 6 months with DS. Around 6 months with DD. They're really sweet at our gym and are probably more qualified than my actual daycare. If baby cries more than 5 minutes, they come find a parent (you let them know where you'll be). I can pretty much guarantee they'll swoon over a little baby. I would go when ever you feel it would be more of a break for you. Start off small (like, even 20 minutes for a shower) and it will be fine.
We just joined a gym with daycare and my kids love it...they have tons of toys and usually a movie is showing. The girls that work in there are very sweet. They have a ratio of 1 adult to 3 toddlers so sometimes when we come if its crowded they have the teenage guy that works at the front desk come in there and help haha! You sign them in and let them know where you will be working out-fitness floor, class, etc. They can stay for up to two hours. The staff will not change diapers or take a child to potty which kind of sucks-not the diapers part but the potty part-especially for us since we are PT right now.
