Oh man that sucks! Lexi did the same thing to our carpet and I googled before I tried anything. I used running alcohol and blotted it (don't rub) and it worked. I don't know if the alcohol would mess up the rug though. I hope you can save it!

My husband is traveling and I cannot handle this week anymore!!!!!!!!
It is taking every ounce of willpower not to pour rubbing alcohol on the entire stained area right now. It worked really well in the one spot but I want to see what it looks like dry. I want these stains GONE.
It's a Melissa and Doug dry erase marker. I'm about to burst into tears. I don't know what to do.
I don't even know how she got this marker. WHYYYYY.
Don't you have like 58 spare rugs?
This rug is fucking cursed. Lol
No, we now only have the original stained rug and I think it looks worse than this will (hopefully) look when I'm done trying to get the stains out. We couldn't return a marker stained rug to Land of Nod anyway, this was clearly our fault.

The test spot came out amazingly well and now the others that I'm trying are just looking okay. The main part is coming out but there is a light blue stain left over. I don't know what I'm doing differently.
I would get as much out as you can and then steam it, if possible to get the rest out. It seems like having that small steamer might come in handy with that rug!
