I tried to read these books when they first got popular, but they were so shitty, I couldn't get into it. I started them again and they're kind of hot. The writing sucks, but still hot.
I tried to read the first one .. couldn't get into it and put it back. I picked it up and again and even though the writing is HORRIBLE ! omg shivers kind of hot.
it took me a mere month to get through all 3. best Christmas present EVER from my sister !
dirty dirty bdsm-y smut, very well written by Anne Rice.
Does anyone have any rec's for something along these lines and well written but not bdsm-y? I've been reading all nerdy stuff and it would be fun to indulge.
I did enjoy Anne Rice books back in the day. And I read a free chapter of 50 shades but thought it was really lame and poorly written.
I haven't read all of these, but it seems like a really good, far-ranging list:
The descriptions of all of those seemed sort of bdsm or some sort of weirdness... is there a well written equivalent of harlequin romance? LOL Apparently I'm a really late bloomer. I read the excerpt of Sleeping Beauty and it was hot, but I'm not really into the bdsm/dominance stuff.
So you want contemporary or historical romance? For contemporary, try Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. Or Lisa Kleypas for (primarily) historicals and a few contemporaries. Also, Julie Garwood and *some* Brenda Joyce.
