Oh my other quote I use all the time is "I am so smart. S-M-R-T." from Homer.
See we could do this all day!! This is making it very distracting and hard to do work when I just want to talk Simpsons.
The BEST part about this line is that it was unscripted. Dan Castellaneta messed up his lines when recording this scene but they decided to leave it in anyway because it was funny.
I work with a company that uses SMRT in their name. Not ironically. REALLY, people?
I also had goldfish named Snowball and Santos L. Halper. In true fashion Snowball died almost immediately (he wasn't OK, his spine was messed up) and Santos lived for like 7 or 8 years. They don't really have black feeder goldfish though, so I never had a Snowball II.
Sorry, but I must publically shun this statement. I've only caught a few recent episodes but they are ghastly, ungodly, unspeakably awful. Unrecognizable, even. Zero cleverness or quotable lines, and all focused on iPhones or what have you, or going 30 years into the future. Humorless and just awful. Devoid of entertainment or soul. As far as I'm concerned the show ended once it stopped being good (whenever that was exactly, but we all know when the line was crossed).
They're not showing Simpsons on TV every evening here like they used to, and I legitimately am not comfortable with life/where I live unless it's showing daily. It sounds crazycakes, but a (good, old) Simpsons episode on the daily grounds me.
I watched one On Demand earlier this week-- the only episode I've seen this year-- and this was what I hated about it. It was set in the future and there was a whole Bart sex subplot thing that was just ick to me. Not funny.
Old person here, but the summer between Who Shot Mr. Burns parts one and two was pretty intense. If I had had internet, I would never have left my house.
I feel like someone just punted a kitten across the room.
it was banned in my house and then i never got around to it. i didnt even know it still aired.
Same! I wasn't allowed to watch it growing up, and then by the time I was old enough to be like "screw you mom" I watched Family Guy instead if I wanted the adult cartoon genre.
This thread is so full of win! I can't really pick a favorite episode.
I agree that the first 10 seasons are the best. After that, it gets dicey. I don't watch it anymore. Reruns are hard since there are so many bad seasons that outweigh the good. It's hard to find the classics.
I like Clown College, Bart's Road Trip to the World Fair, Bart v. Australia (hilarious!).
I was thinking of you all last night. We went to a "movie on the lawn" event last night and they were shooting t-shirts at people. I almost got one right to the head, but I managed to grab it instead. I was thinking "this is how Maude Flanders died!!!" Thank goodness I wasn't holding anything.

I have a new found appreciation for family guy now that I live in Rhode Island. There actually some things that are funnier - or maybe I just didn't get the joke before? - that I see now.
