One of my favorite places in walking distance has a really good kale and brussels sprouts caesar salad. Yeah, this is definitely the type of places I eat.

My SIL and I payed $12 for a plate of cornbread on Saturday night, and it wasn't even as good as what I make in 7 minutes. There might have also been some pork belly on the table, and there was definitely some sharing of small plates and toast points with random ass spreads.
Tonight, I was happy to have my annual visit to Outback with FIL, after having my annual over priced, but what choice do you have, meal at the happiest damn place on earth, which does not have pork belly on its menu, and is still hanging out in flatbread land, which was so 5 years ago.
So tired. Give me some good Thai any day. I avoid places like this. The only things missing are bacon, homemade burrata, goat milk ice cream and a new riff on chocolate pudding.
Eh a trendy restaurant would have a much better graphic designer... Lol
I think charcuterie should have replaced the jerky and some sort of braised meat (short rib, oxtail) should have been on the menu.
Dessert would be a take off on a childhood favorite (smores, churros, hostess cupcake, donuts), trio of house made ice creams or sherbet, dense chocolate torte, custardy thing (panna cotta, flan), and something fruity (key lime pie, strawberry shortcake).
So true, we went to one of these trendy restaurants this weekend and I ordered small plates while everyone else ordered substantial portions of food. They brought my small plates as appetizers so I just stared at everyone while they are their substantial portions.
In SF, my H and I were talking about how all restaurants need to have a trendy one-word name. That word usually tells you absolutely nothing about the restaurant or the type of food it is serving:
I could go on and on and on, but apparently one-word restaurant names are all the range in this part of the world.
When I first moved into the city, numbers were all the rage -- Bungalow 8, Lot 61, etc.
Right now we have two trends going on -- ampersands (Rogue & Cannon; Root & Bone) or two word names that start with "The" (The General, The Gander, The Marrow, The Heath, The Peacock, The Elm)
