Does anyone have a source, article, site that discusses why these are a bad idea. I'm seeing people trying to purchase them in a group I'm in and the dumb is strong with them.
This was a huge issue in China. When we lived there, we had tons of black market DVDs because it was impossible to find legitimate Western movies anywhere. We actually knew people who bought hundreds of them and shipped them home as presents.
My FIL bought a bunch of fakes in China. none of them work properly.
Chinese DVD players are sometimes slightly different, so not every format translates well.
We did sometimes have fun with the errors. We bought Shrek and turned on the captions, only it was NOT the captions for Shrek. I don't know what movie it was, but the profanity was prolific in the first 2 minutes.

ha!!
Yep. Another time, we watched "Last Samurai" and had the captions on because the sound was wonky, and it was a scene where an older man is telling a newcomer about all the different sections of Tokyo and the influences of the people in different areas. The caption simply read, "Some Germans live over there." Pretty sure the script was more detailed than that.

origami go to osan. Just outside the gate there an entire black market for the military folks. I once saw a sign on the DVD store, in English, saying they'd be back in 10 because police were patrolling. Lofl
Also, all the purse shops are just fronts. You browse until someone offers to help and then say you want coach (or similar) and they'll take you to hidden rooms. It's an adventure you need to have.

Oh reeeeeeeally! Are the hidden rooms full of real, stolen things or fake things?
