Zantac worked good for about a month. Now J is back to spitting up after every bottle, but he doesn't scream after his feedings (which is a huge plus). I only feed him 3 oz on demand, which tends to be every hour/hour and a half. He's also on rice added formula. What gives? Did reflux improve once solids were introduced? Thanks!
Have you tried going back to normal formula? My pedi put her on the AR stuff to help with reflux, and it made her spit up more. I switched her back once we were on Zantac and it helped a lot.
Zantac is extremely weight sensitive so there is a good chance that he needs his dosage increased at this point.
Zantac never really did much for DD so we had to switch to Prevacid. Prevacid worked for about 20 hours, max, so we had to go up to 2 doses of Prevacid/day. That worked

Nothing ended up working for DS1. He was a happy spitter, so rather than continue trying to try changing meds (he was EBF, so we didn't try different formulas), I just resigned myself to the extra laundry. He was happy and gaining weight, so the doctor didn't want to pursue anything else. If you've previously had luck with Zantac (we didn't), hopefully just a change in dosage will work!
I bought lots of cute bibs and heavy duty burp cloths. DS1 stopped at about a year (decreased with solids) and DS2 stopped about 7 months (started solids at 6 months).

Good luck! I know it's maddening!
If it helps, meds aren't technically supposed to stop the reflux, just neutralize the acid so that it doesn't damage their esophagus. No med ever stopped the reflux episodes for us but it did help with the endless screaming.
DS's pedi said the same thing that redheadk mentioned. The medicine will not make the reflux go away just lessen the symptoms. So since he isn't screaming and is now a 'happy' spitter, I say that is success. Since starting Zantac DS does not scream between feedings and is just as happy as can be. I can tell he is not in pain yet he still spits up a ton. I am ok with that and so is DS's pedi.

He's a happy spitter but I feel like he's always hungry and if I feed him more he just spits it back up. We did start the meds because he wasn't gaining a lot of weight, because he was spitting up so much. I worry he's such a peanut.
