Last week our POS ikea bed frame broke. So we upgraded from a queen to a king. We have been sleeping on the mattress on the floor since last Wednesday and today our new bed was delivered. I never realized how massive a bed this size is. But it is a pillowtop and sooooo soft that I kind of can't wait to go to bed tonight.
I'm already depressed and grumpy today for some reason, and just now a good friend posted about how her twins, who are two months younger than Andrew, are starting to potty train. I know that every kid is different, and I know that he can do lots that they can't, but I'm taking this really hard. This feels like the first giant slap in the face in what will likely be a long stream of things that Andrew struggles with. Things that make him different from his friends. I mean, it's not like he's six and not potty trained. And there are tons of neurotypical kids who don't potty train for years, but for some reason this has me bawling my eyes out tonight.
They have it on freshdirect! Are you still ordering sometimes?
Ooh, I will definitely be ordering some! Since it's summer, I've been mostly food shopping myself. But we got a yearly delivery pass, so maybe I'll use it this week. I'm always in the mood for some yogurt chicken anyway.

Mmm also get the chicken salad with feta and artichokes that @therealmc made me buy. So yummy!

I just had to lock my dogs in the bathroom (with tons of pillows to sleep on! and food and water and a pee pad!) to get them to STFU. They were in my bed and every time they heard something they'd bark and disturb Ruby. Having pets is so annoying sometimes.
Now I'm worried they're sad and I want to snuggle them.
Life has had a lot of ups and downs lately and my anxiety is through the roof. H doesn't cope well with all the stress either, and he's on my last nerve. Plus, I think aunt flow is going to make an early arrival, ugh.
Thanks to dh, I bought everything in my Amazon cart! 3 books for me and 2 things for A. Yes! I bought the Water Wow books that someone suggested and this book. We have one from the Dollar Store, but I haven't looked since. She loves it. The paint is already in the pages and you just use water. It turns into watercolor when you paint with the water. So fun!

My neighbors have decided now would be a good time to yell outside. If they wake my kid up before I finish this glass of wine we're going to have a problem.

The water wow books are the best! And those painting books were my favorite when I was little

I am sorry. I still think about when you said he can count backwards. He has made such great strides and you are such a wonderful mom and advocate for him. It is perfectly understandable to have some days when you are sad about the things that may not come as easy for him. I hope tomorrow you can shake the sad. Hugs to you pretty lady!

I get hopeful every single time I start to feel sick.
Our whole day has been crazy we left the house at 830 to head to a play date 45 mins away only to realize 15 mins into the drive I went off without the diaper bag/ my wallet so turn around go home grab it. What normally is a 45 min drive turned into 1 hour 15 mins not including the turn around back. So Brady ended up taking a 9:00 nap in the car for 45 mins and never took a 2nd nap which meant 700 bed time :)We had a great play date with friends we rarely get to see anymore and the older boy gave Brady some rainbow (the brand not color) flip flops. So now Brady keeps walking around shoes like Sam!
My dad had a hernia surgery today. It was supposed to be at 11, a simple outpatient procedure. It got bumped back to almost 2:00. Annoying but whatever. I just got a text from my mom- they are admitting him because he still doesn't have bladder function. Last year my dad was in the ICU with blood clots. It's been a long day of worrying and I'm not sure sleep will come tonight. Ugh.

Hugs Beener, sending positive healthy vibes to your Dad!
muppetinma hugs to you as well. Even with a neurotypical kid there is tons out there to get down about. I have other mums constantly going on about all the awesome things that their kids can do and I understand how annoying and irritating it can be. ((hugs))
My random. Somehow I have gained 2-3kg and AHHHH my pants are all tight. wtf. It's probably all the wine and desserts lately, but I'm still in denial. Fark.
I get way more stressed out about travelling than I should.
I just called tonight to see if I can get DH added on my VISA so that we can rent a car under his name since my VISA has rental car insurance. But, because I want him to drive, we have to book a car using a credit card in his name. I really hope the card comes before we leave next Friday.
Seriously, I couldn't sleep last night because I'm all stressed about packing and travelling.
Hugs Beener!I obviously don't know your dad's situation but I used to work in the OR and post surgical. The bladder being sluggish after surgery is really common and usually resolves after a little while. It is frustrating but he should be just fine
muppetinma hugs to you as well. My A is also not potty trained and is not nearly as verbal as your Andrew! Keep your chin up he is doing awesome and you are awesome.

Today was my first long day home alone with both kids. It was a very tying/ exhausting day. After DH got home we put Aiden to bed and I decided I would go to the store tonight rather than try with both this weekend. I took Autumn with me so DH could get some stuff done around the house. She slept through most of the trip then as I was getting ready to check out she started screaming. I took her out of her seat and she had had a huge blowout diaper. I took her outside to change her and realized I only had some of Aidens diapers with me. So my one month old went home in just a size 5 diaper. I should have got a picture. I now need a glass of wine.
There are multiple posts on this thread I want to like but every time I hit the like button it just takes me up to the top of page one.
My random is that I just realized I ran out of the house this morning and never had my morning poop. This explains so much.
@beener I hope you dad is ok. I second what @littlecahew says. I work in the recovery room and urinary retention or the inability to pee can be a side effect do anesthesia, especially for older men.
Na and beelove- thank you SO much for your words of wisdom and experience. They helped me relax a lot last night knowing this wasn't abnormal. I just heard from my mom and my dad was able to go small amounts several times throughout the night and his pain is manageable right now. The doctor is doing his morning rounds now and they think dad can go home soon!
Thanks to everyone who sent positive vibes his way!
