I am looking to sell 300 ounces of breast milk for $2.00 an ounce. I am healthy, disease free, and make an abundance of milk for my 3 month old baby. I have a Masters degree, do not smoke, and exercise fairly regularly. Milk is frozen in 6 oz bags in a deep freeze and was frozen on the same day it was pumped (as marked on the bag). I can sell milk from any of the last three months. I am open to an on going arrangement to sell milk frozen or fresh ($4.00 an ounce for fresh milk). Buyer pays shipping using Fedex. Please contact me immediately if interested ... running out of deep freeze space. Willing to sell to anyone interested in purchasing,

Ok I get people donating and exchanging breastmilk online. But selling on craigslist just seems icky to me. What are your thoughts on this?
Lol, earlier tonight one of my friends just sent me a screenshot of a craigslist ad in our area.
MILK PLEASE Sincere, polite, respectful male in need of breast milk. Will compensate well. Serious replies only please. P.S.! For those that I've previously corresponded with please please reply...your email info was inadvertently deleted. Thank you
For some reason this ad screams someone who has a creepy/weird obsession with breast milk. I picture an old, fat guy sitting around in his underwear dunking Oreos into breastmilk.
I won't act like I didn't consider e-mailing him to see how much he's offering. Baby girl needs a college fun. lol.
I'm with you that something just doesn't feel right about selling breastmilk on Craigslist, but I'm not sure why. Pumping takes time, effort, and those bags are not free. We don't flinch at someone charging money for any other product, but expect breastmilk to be donated. We sell old, used baby clothes, but give away something that is nearly the perfect food and is only able to be produced in high quantities by certain women at certain times in your life. I guess it's the ultimate sign of humanity that people not only refrain from selling it for much, much more, but they generally GIVE it away to another mother and baby who need it.
I'm not touching the other reasons people may want to buy breastmilk, except to say that I hope people who are willing to sell it for those purposes charge an arm and a leg for it!

I read an article somewhere a long time ago about selling breastmilk, and it said that on the "fetish market" milk goes for something like 3x what it goes for normally. I think a person can make big bucks selling their milk to creepy old guys.
There was an article recently talking about breast milk being the latest craze for the uber health conscious and weight lifters. I think that article said it goes for up to $2/ounce - that's probably where she got the idea. I've got about 3-4 gallons in my freezer, maybe I should use it to fund J's college...

I mean *I* wouldn't sell on craigslist, but to each her own. Mostly because she's likely going to get some creepy fetish guy as a buyer, and I have no desire to meet a creepy fetish guy face to face for the sale. If I were to sell breast milk, I'm sure there are reputable sites out there that facilitate this, right?

No.
The only reputable way that breastmilk is sold is from a breastmilk bank; mothers are not compensated for this. They donate milk, the bank pasteurizes and tests the milk, then sells it for the cost of processing to hospitals for very sick babies.
And I think there are companies that buy it to make enriched formulas? That's semi-legit.
The only people buying milk on CL are creepy guys and sad people that think it will cure their cancer.

Huh. I guess creepy guys aren't that proactive? lol I had just over 100 oz of dairy and soy tainted milk that I had no use for after we realized M had MSPI. Thankfully I was able to donate it. I would have rather thrown it away than hawked it to some creep in a van.

This topic came up on the radio a while ago. I couldn't believe the number of people who called in saying that they sell "breastmilk" on Craigslist, except what they really send to the buyer is regular milk (goat milk seemed to be the most popular). Hopefully that milk really was going only to the fetish crowd!
