Hi, all!
I've been here before, a few years ago. I'm back with a new name and profile, but if I'm too familiar too quick, just know I'm not totally new.
A few years ago I was at my heaviest and started WW in early September. I was 100 pounds overweight. By late October, I started C25K and took up running for the first time in my life. I walked my first 5k in December of that year with a friend and ran my first one a few months later. I successfully did a timed 5k (though even I never pretended to be racing!) 9 months, from December '11 until October '12 and then totally and completely fell off the wagon.
I gained back the 70 pounds I lost, stopped attending WW meetings and stopped running.
Most of the time I was doing WW and running, DH was doing MFP, cycling, and running. When I stopped, he stopped "dieting" and running, though he still cycles. I don't cycle nor ever have. It's his thing.
On Sunday DH and I are joining WW together and plan to get back on track before both of us start our busy season at work. We're just off a long vacation and need to regain some control and discipline. I'm also having trouble trying to conceive our first child and know weight loss will help.
Because we were gone for a month, our fridge and cupboards are bare. We live in close proximity to a fancy new Whole Foods and within driving distance of a Trader Joe's, as well as conventional grocery stores. We have had Sam's and Costco memberships at times in the past but have neither now. I'm open to the idea of getting a membership to one or the other, upon recommendation.
I'd love to hear your suggestions for restocking a home with the best foods possible for staring a successful weight loss lifestyle. If you had an empty cupboard and fridge, what essentials would you want to get to make sure you had healthy, delicious foods on hand?

Welcome back!
Assumimg you're not doing a special diet, like Paleo or low carb, I would stock up on a lot of fresh produce; healthy fats like eggs, nuts and avocado; snacks like hummus and Greek yogurt. Try not to buy junk food, and that way it won't even be in your house. Good luck!
Welcome! I love costco for the fresh fruits and veggies. In my area they are awesome. They also have great prices on nuts, yogurt, cottage cheese, and a lot of all-natural snacks.
My other go-to is trader joes - hummus, crackers, Chili-lime chicken burgers, almond butter, cereal, Greek yogurt based guac, chicken sausage, to name a few.
I think you can stock up on lots of healthy options at both places! Good luck!!!

Welcome!
I would stock up on yogurt, nuts, pretzels, hummus, peanut butter/nut butter, cereals, rice. I would not buy any junk food. I try not to buy any and it is so much easier not to eat it if it is not there.
Good luck!! I think it is awesome that both of you are joining WW.

Welcome! If you go in with the mentality that you have to work out for the rest of your life to stay healthy (even walking when you are 73...).it may make it easier that it is non-negotiable.
Just start slow, make slow gains, and treat it as a new lifestyle for you and your family.
Plan out your snacks and your meals every day. Use MFP to track your calories.
My shopping cart at TJs usually includes Unsalted Natural PB, Avocados, whatever fruit looks good is on sale, red peppers, Ah-mook crackers, almond milk, zucchini, eggs, sunflower seeds.
I've really come to love a high protein, low carb diet that I've adopted. I use a lot of Paleo recipes, but don't follow it religiously My H and I eat very little refined sugar or processed food. Our dinners usually consist of 1/3, 2/3 veggies. I still eat carbs like oatmeal for breakfast, but I'm marathon training so I need some fuel.
Some good staples: Olive Oil, coconut oil
Good luck! Stick around here. Chatting about working out and eating healthy inspires me stick to it.
Welcome! At bjs or samsclub we stock up on salmon burgers and veggie burgers for grilling. We also chop lettuce and veggies to keep in the fridge to make salads for lunch or dinner. Small changes over time are easier to succeed with. Mfp is great to get a handle on how much your intake truly is. Good luck and stick around, this board is so inspiring.
