We don't want to move our livestock, so we gave them all away. A friend from church is coming to pick up the chickens this morning. DH is all breezy about getting them into cages for transport, good luck dude! Our rooster is LARGE AND IN CHARGE dude. I hope DH doesn't get hurt. Just to be safe, I'm just going to dial 9-1 on my cell phone.
I am LOLing at the image of your H chasing down angry chickens.
And Ashley&Scott it went mostly okay. We used fishing nets, which is what most people use to catch chickens. DH netted the rooster first, there was a bunch of squawking but no one got hurt. The chicks bolted into the field, so we'll catch them when they come home tonight. *I* was pretty BADASS though. A chicken flew up on top of the 7ft fence to get out, and as it flew down to get away I caught it in midair with the net. DH and my friend were like "BOOYAH SuperGreen!"
@supergreen are you going to have livestock at your new house or are you taking some time off until after #2 is born?
The new house has no barns, shed, etc to put the livestock in. And we have to cut down some trees before we can even build a barn. AND we have to save up money for cutting trees and building a barn. So rather than move our existing chickens and rabbits into the garage (GROSS), we gave them away and will get new livestock once we build the appropriate infrastructure at the new house. If I had to bet, it will probably be next spring.
Makes sense! Plus your pregnant self won't have to worry about chores over the winter
And I want a red barn...it reminds me of my childhood. If we ever move to the country we will have a barn, even if we don't have animals to put in said barn. Like this:
I went to a garage sale today with little girls clothes and all were Janie and Jack, Gap, Hanna Anderson and Gymboree. Everything (dresses, shirts, jackets,...) was 25 cents! BUT she didn't wash anything before putting it out. It was weird. I bought some (because hello- 25 cents!) but I didn't go too crazy because I have no idea if the stains/dirt will come out.
I believe her, and I believe him. Maybe I'm a sucker too
I get way over invested in these types of stories. I much prefer this type of update to the "oh turns out he's full on cheating." I also choose to believe all parties here because I'm a sucker for a happy(ish) ending.
Here is my Friday vent. My parents recently held a big party to meet DD. I just finished opening all the gifts and she now has a vast collection of poofy dresses for the next 5 years. Her other grandparents are holding one of these parties next weekend so I can only expect that the collection of poofy dresses is going to double. People also gave all sorts of play clothes so we can use that.
But without gift receipts for the majority of the clothes gifts, I am stuck with all these clothes for DD. I don't get to really shop for her and dress her in what I want. FWP I know.
WUT? Buy what you want and put her in what you want. I feel zero obligation to dress my child in what other people like over what I like. If we receive something and like it, then yay. If not, Goodwill pile with no regrets. NO REGRETS. Life is too short to put your kid in ugly things you hate, especially for poofy-dress-worthy occasions.
We just got a letter from the trash service that we have an overdue bill. The bill is from the beginning of June, a solid 3 1/2 weeks before we closed on our house. Which means that our sellers didn't pay their fucking trash bill with a month left to go in the house. This is straight up their bill and it's $83. WTF.
I'm 99% sure it was just an oversight because these people are very nice but ridiculously disorganized. They moved themselves and were 12 hours late vacating the house because they just underestimated how long it would take and they HAD to be in their new city the day after we closed. It was weird. They are the most disorganized people I've ever met. Thankfully, they took very good care of the house...it's dated but in wonderful condition.
