My older-than-me niece who live is San Clemente California (Southern) was visiting San Francisco this week. She ended up going into spontaneous labor at what my H and I believe is about 30-31 weeks. She was at a A's game when her water broke and they had to call 911 because labor came about very quickly. She delivered in the ambulance and little Da.isy. Ma.ri.e was born at 4lbs 8 oz, but struggling to breathe. Baby is in the NICU on a CPAP and my niece isn't handling everything very well. She's blaming herself a lot, because she has always been very fit and active, and continued to be so during her pregnancy, but she is adamant she over did it. Plus she was hesitant to have children at all, so her mind is spinning. Her mom is flying out to be with her now, and details are fuzzy for us out here, but any thoughts, prayers, positive thoughts, whatever for baby and mom would be much appreciated.

I will be keeping them all in my thoughts. I hope she eases up on herself, I'm sure she did everything right during pregnancy, but unfortunately early labor just happens sometimes.
Emerson Kate, born 38w5d on 4/6/12 at 6:02 p.m., 5 lbs 13 oz and 18 3/4 inches. Lucas Matthew, born 39w5d on 4/11/14 at 8:20 a.m., 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches.
I'll be praying for her. The problem with spontaneous PTL is that there really is no answer, so it's so tempting to ask yourself, "What did I do wrong? What if I hadn't done X the day before?" And even when you do overcome those thoughts, you still have to accept that it was YOUR body that failed. The guilt can be tremendous.
I hope the baby's NICU time is uneventful. If she's looking for a support, the Bump Preemie board is one of the few drama-free places and there are a lot of experienced people on it.

That's so scary. I hope they get baby girl where she needs to be health wise right away. Will the be stuck in NorCal for the entire nicu stay? So much added stress on top of stress by being out of town.
