Omg I love my nanny family. I'm cleaning up lunch stuff and I found a container in the fridge with a note that says happy Friday Heather! One for you and one for the boys. Inside are three delicious looking homemade cupcakes, with the ingredients listed because she knows I need to get J's allergy testing done. It's like she knew. Oh, and she didn't cut my pay from having to call her home the other day, and won't take the money back. And, I had to hand her back her kid yesterday with a head lump. All if that and she still made us cupcakes.

We spent a few hours at a fun local playground today and the boys played in a huge mud puddle, they had such a blast and made such a mess. After rest time we have a playdate, and tonight Adam and I head down to begin our trip to LI. I'm exhausted already and it's only 1:45. Nooooo

A very new local friend just told me to send her husband a resume because his company will soon be looking for an administrative person, she said the job comes with great benefits. I'm so grateful for her thinking of me and will send it over next week, but...eeek.... Am I ready for this already? I have not interviewed for a job in 10 years.
38w appt today- cervical check: no progress. Bp was high but they had me rest on my side and recheck and it went way down, plus no protein in urine. So now I have to "rest more"- ha I was already feeling pretty lazy but so glad it's not pre-e again!

Well, A did better at the dentist than I expected... she obviously was not happy, but it wasn't AS BAD as I thought. She left happy, so that's good.
I, on the other hand, left and cried in the car. He spent 2 minutes with us and said he wants to pull her 4 front teeth. There are other things he can do, but nope - just wants to put my kid under and pull the teeth, so she would have no front teeth for 4 years or so. Yeah, not happening. I already have a call into another dentist for a second opinion and I'm channeling my inner hippie and researching homeopathic treatments. I will be picking up cell salts tonight. I felt like the worst mother in the world before I researched stuff. Now I feel like he was a lazy tool of a dentist out to make quick money off my poor baby.

She has some decay, which we could tell when brushing her teeth and that was my main concern when I brought her in. It could be from the medicine she was on when she was younger, or she could just have bad teeth. We have been brushing them twice a day for as long as she's had teeth, and she doesn't eat many sweets, so at least we know it's nothing we are or are not doing for her. Anyway, since they are "just baby teeth", he thinks just pulling them is a better solution than treating them. He briefly mentioned other alternatives, before telling me he was pulling them. He didn't even ask if I had any questions or what I thought, just said the lady would be in contact to set up the day surgery to get it done. My mom said my baby brother's teeth were so bad when he was a toddler from all the medicine he was on, and the dentist never even mentioned pulling them. He had them until they fell out on their own as they should and his adult teeth came in.

That stinks that he wouldn't listen to your concerns. I wouldn't want them pulled either.
melmon0417 Is he a pediatric dentist? I'd be tempted to get a second opinion before having teeth pulled.
@dragonmommy422 I'm sorry he's blaming you for it all. Is he the sort to sit down an reasonably look at where the money is going?
musiclover I know exactly what a snackeez is. And a Pack-it, and that stupid bear with a fishbowl in its belly. Abby has learned that commercials lie and that stuff isn't always as good as it looks. She still asks for it.

Yes, he was a pediatric dentist. When his office calls next week to set up the day surgery (because it needs to be done at the hospital), I will be telling them we've found another dentist. I already have a call into another dentist for a second opinion. I am not letting them pull her teeth at 2 years old. I am not putting her through that right now!
I'm glad Abby isn't self-conscious about her preemie scars. She had a check-up today and the doctor was a young resident. When he lifted her gown to check her abdomen, he said, very surprised, "Where'd you get this scar??"
Now, granted, it's surprising if you're not expecting it. Most 7-year-olds don't have a thick scar stretching across their abdomens, but the way he said it make it seem like it was a big deal, and if she was already self-conscious about it, I think it would have made her feel weirder. Fortunately, it's not a big deal to her at all. She answered, very matter-of-factly, "Oh, that's my baby scar."

So cute. Good for her. What a weird doctor, did you think she got it in a knife fight, you idiot.
Yeah, I think he was just surprised. Young resident. He was actually a great doctor, very thorough and did a good job of talking to both of us and not ignoring one of us.
Just got back from the pediatrician. Just an unspecified virus. His ears were all clear, but his throat was all red. Strep swab came back negative. I'm relieved to know that something was indeed bothering him, but I'm sad that there's not a whole hell of a lot we can do to help.
Gotta love it. We are on the same boat. Lots of fluids. That's it. Hugs.
Shit. My little green bean fiend has discovered that we have a green bean plant and has proceeded to pull off all of the ones that are ripe or almost ripe.
It's not until September, right? Maybe take a week off of running. You have a ton on your plate and maybe that will help.
I'm not even halfway through training for my race, so take this fwiw. But mentally training for my first half was more exhausting mentally than my full training so far. There was something so tiring about not having run those distances before.
you can always vent to me via pm if you want.
eta: and everything @dragonmommy422 said. You will never, ever forget that feeling.
Dude. Half marathon training is no joke. It's HARD. I know, I've done one.
Buuuuut the feeling you get when you cross that finish line is, it's, I can't even find the words. You will feel amazingly strong, proud, elated, exhausted, and just mesmerized that your body just did that. And then you get to go drink a lot and pass out for hours. It's so worth it. Trust me!

Oh that sucks! Well drink a lot in celebration when you can. Let me tell you. The shower after that run is the best shower you'll ever take.

You can do this!! You have already put in so much work and we are about halfway there with our training! You ran 6 miles last Sunday! That's awesome! I know it must be hard with your H's work schedule but this is something just for you. Outside of the normal routine and being a parent. The sense of accomplishment is totally worth it. I hope in a week or so you won't feel this way anymore. But I anticipate we will both have a lot of up and downs during this training. And I totally know how you feel. I was flirting with the idea of starting to TTC a month early to get out of running the race! But I don't want to waste that registration fee! Definitely pm me whenever! Hopefully we can run together sometime soon.
