I don't like what Stellas did. And her approach is one of the sides of Catholicism that drives this Catholic nuts.
But, she put nearly a decade on this board at risk to stand by the beliefs she has always been forthright and open about. I can only flame that so far. She's "one of us" for lack of a better term, and I hope she's able to come back.
This exchange reminds me of how Stella was mocked and flamed for posting so soon after she had Payne. This was probably back in the olden days when you had to take a laptop to the hospital and hope for an ethernet connection. Now we get live feeds from L&D, urgent care, and the toilet.
Everyone in here should be thanking her for blazing the trail and being flamed to dust so that we may all post our daily goings on in real time.

I was on vacation when this all went down, and I spent a good two days when I got back reading those threads.
I came back and read back a few pages, thinking, "Oh, nothing dramatic happened when I was gone." Then I went back a few more and was like........uh, never mind.
Jesus christ. Nobody is saying that Stellas was catfishing a la Vaba/JLM. The comparison was to the LEVEL OF BOARD DRAMA only.
I never said that. What I said was I thought it would be really insulting to stellas - a long time poster - to be compared to jlm/vaba. I think Stellas believed she may be able to help someone. Her faith seems to be a big part of her life and I don't believe she was coming from a malicious place at all.
I agree that the level of board drama was right up there, but I understood wambam's original comment 'this is TOTALLY JLb/Vaba territory.' to suggest that Stellas is as big of a nut bag as jlm/vaba. And again, I don't think Stellas is anywhere near lunatic level.
Longtime posters do not get a pass for trying to dissuade a person from getting an abortion.

Nobody gets a pass for that.
I feel like this point is being lost and history will be re written with her making this magnanimous gesture and we're all atheist assholes who don't respect her sacrifice for religion.
I don't have any beef with stellas.
For the most part, I appreciated her contributions to the board, even if we had opposing views.
But, yes, I agree with this 100% -- her actions should not be characterized as selfless.

Well this is a little dramatic.
I propose a yearly reminder for those that remain. Kind of like the Hunger Games. Or maybe a Passion play.

What she did was pretty shocking but I do hope she's ok.
Well, I'm sure none of us wish ILL on her. I mean, geez, folks.
I can hope for the best for her and have occasional positive thoughts about her health and progress while still finding her offer (and her concern WHILE OFFERING about the effect of that offer on her message board acceptance) repugnant.

That not at all what I meant.
I totally think shaming someone whether PM or not, was SUPER SHITTY. NO pass for her on that. She happened to have the same form of cancer my husband had so I hope she's doing ok.

I volunteer as tribute!
At the time of the annual reaping, I will send a PM to a randomly selected ML'er, who must then share her darkest secret, commit GBCN Hari-kiri, and be banished from the boards henceforth and evermore.
