I think they are mostly phooey from what I've read but I totally want one because they are adorable. Articles I've read say there is no way the body could heat the amber enough to release whatever calming chemical there is.
We had one for C. I used it for all of two days. The idea of having something around his neck freaked me out way more than dealing with teething pain. And I'm pretty breezy.

Yup, I did. Did it help? Maybe. My older son had a terrible time with teeth. Cal was mildly better and I attribute it to the amber necklace and Hyland's teething tablets.
It can't hurt is how I look at it. And if you are worried about leaving it on at night, you can put it on his ankle, although I never did this.
I was desperate so I looked into this. But there is not any scientific evident to support it, and I feel it's a big chocking hazard, so I didn't buy it. My friend said it help her son though.

Tried it, didn't help at all. The choking hazard aspect of it also freaked me out.
DD was/is a really bad sleeper, so I feel your pain. I was also desperate and willing to try anything and everything. Her sleep never improved until we night weaned around 11-12 months.
Yes and it helped, she told me I'm kidding of course but I noticed her to be much less fussy and she drooled all over if we took it off of her. She has been the easiest baby we have gone through teething with and she has gotten her teeth very late. I bought a tiny necklace for our newest baby but I misplaced it and it is still a tad too big.
I have one for DD that SIL bought but I've never used it. DD has never had a hard time teething. If we know she's in pain we give her some medicine before bed and that's it. Most of the time I don't even know she's teething.
SIL loves them and swears by them though. Her two sons wear them all the time. They are 2.5 and 5 months. She says it helps.
