The only thing that surprises me about any of this is that he allegedly has Catholic friends. The view, the posting, the deleting, the no comment--utterly expected.
He is such a tool. And I get the impression that Jessa doesn't even like him.
I don't think she does either. When you see Jill/Derrick and Jessa/Ben together Jill and Derrick have this utter happiness in each other's presence, and Jessa is always looking at him like he's a dumbshit. And he is a dumbshit.
It's not uncommon for fundies to be anti catholic. That was actually more polite than I'd expect.
And it's certainly not the first time the duggars have let their controversial views known. Their son works for a hate group. They've made many extreme anti choice statements (like the holocaust comparison).
1. Jill's wedding will more than likely not be the season opener. May even be the season finale.
2. Biiiiiin is trying to be josh. If you'll recall, when the duggars were campaigning for Santorum, josh tweeted "in general, catholic = wrong beliefs."

Is it the running theory that Jessa's going to be the one to get out? Because looking at your intended as though he's dumbass numero uno isn't exactly being a helpmeet.
I think the money is currently on joy to be "the one"

I'm not remotely offended. This is a common and major disagreement between christian groups.
On the flip side, I personally cannot image believing that being a good person doesn't matter. To me, thats really all that matters. I'm hardly religious, but its the big issue that made me continue to go back to Catholicism back when I was actively church shopping.
Yeah a lot of non-Catholics don't believe in good works making god happy(ier) with you and don't believe in upholding Mary the way Catholics do. Obviously the *my way is better* tone is BS but you can hardly expect much different from a Duggar sympathizer.
I wonder if he agrees with the Catholic stance on homosexually and birth control.
I think Jesse should break up with him on the basis of ruining their perfect looking life on Social Media. They may be hateful IRL but don't you dare make them look less than squeaky clean on the interwebz!!

i don't think most protestant groups state that being a good person doesn't matter. they do want you to be a good person, so that you can emulate Christ. But i believe that the distinction is what will get you to heaven/salvation: is it faith alone (protestant) or a combination of good works/faith?
Then toss in some predestination/pre-determination and its all very confusing!!

Faith alone means doing good things does not matter in terms of gods reward. I personally could never get my head around the idea that god was so self absorbed that he only rewarded people who believed in him instead of rewarding those who are good people regardless of their religion.

Yes, I was agreeing @irishbride2 that protestants think that doing good things does not matter in terms of god's reward. I was just trying to state that I don't think that means that protestants ignore good works - just that it doesn't matter in regards to salvation/heaven (I am assuming that is what you mean by god's reward?)
I am not a theologian so please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know why any Catholic would take offense really.
He holds a different religious viewpoint and he seems to have given it a great deal of consideration. Shrugs. His right as an American.
If you're going to be offended by that, then you have to walk around offended all day that Protestants exist at all. Not to mention Jews, Muslims, atheists, etc etc.
