deliver packages anymore. This is the third time that we've gotten notice that a package wasn't deliverable, even though someone has been home all day. And they refuse to re deliver
That happened to bf last week! And then he went to the post office and they said they couldn't give him his package bc the post person hadn't even returned yet - 15 minutes before the office closed. The third day he put a sign on the door that was very Dante of Clerks - I assure you, we are here! - but finally got the package. AND the post person was rude about the sign!

This happened to me all the time when I lived in DC. Apparently my mail carrier determined that my neighborhood was not safe enough to leave packages on the doorstep *side eye* the PO told me it was completely up to the mail carriers discretion.
I did live in SE, but it was a part of Capitol Hill that had been that had been safe for decades. Actually, I was so close to the capitol (and therefore capitol police) that I doubt it was ever unsafe. I'm pretty sure the mail carrier was just lazy.
And also, they claim to have left a notice but I never get one. I only find out by checking the tracking.
This is exactly what is happening!!
I'm thinking our mail carriers are just lazy as fuck, and just don't want to bring the boxes around. Although this box is an envelope with two bibs in it, so I'm not sure how heavy it could possibly be.
I want to file a complaint, but god knows that won't do any good with the post office.
The other annoying thing is that our complex has a 24hr concierge. Fedex and UPS somehow manage to leave packages with them, but USPS can't seem to figure it out.
Then, the last time I had to pick something up, the building was locked over a half hour before their posted closing time. Fuckers!
We haven't had an issue with packages (yet), but we will often go days without receiving mail. There's never been a time in my adult life that I didn't at least receive a piece of junk mail per day, what's up now? We have a mail slot in our door, which I thought was cool/novel at first, but now I'm thinking our letter carrier doesn't like getting out of his truck to come to our door. I had a birthday card clipped to my door for days (bright yellow envelope, very visible), it was never picked up. I finally had to take to a mailbox myself.
Our mail carrier sucks too. She will do anything to avoid getting out of her car so we get all kinds of packages jammed in the mailbox. On Thursday I had to get my h to get a package out because it was stuck so bad I couldn't get it.

They do this to me, in my gated community in Alexandria. It drives me batshit crazy.

I get notices, like the dude actually comes all the way onto my property and sticks the thing on my mailbox, but he doesn't bring the package with him. My H's friend is a postie in the city and he says that sometimes while sorting, they will just bottleneck certain deliveries to certain areas so they'll leave your pkg to another day. If you complain, they'll say they tried.
I don't have a problem with USPS package deliveries (in part due to the fact that the package guy is my next door neighbor, I'm sure), but UPS can suck it.
I had a lazy postman last week. Our mailbox faces the street, usually when I get a package the mailman will come up and ring the doorbell if we're not home they'll leave it on the porch. Well, the person we had last week left the package on the ground right next to the mailbox, like 2 inches from the street. Wth!
I WFH and get those notices all the time. I just roll with it because our post lady has to walk (no drive up mailboxes) so I bet it would suck to haul a bunch of packages.
Ours sucks too. They folded H's master's degree, which was in a DO NOT BEND envelope, so they could shove it in our mailbox rather than dropping it at our front door. Most expensive piece of paper we own, and you're going to make it into a paper airplane? NO.
There was another time that they couldn't fit something in our mailbox, so they left it in my unlocked car in the drivers seat. (I never forget to lock my car, so that was such a weird coincidence.) I wasted a bunch of time scouring my yard and the perimeter of my house because I saw that it was delivered. I didn't find it until I went to drive my car. I WAS HOME. Knock and leave it on the porch, man.
Too lazy to load it and is covering his ass? It's ridiculous.
Canada Post is phasing out mail carriers in the next couple of years. I suspect they're all just phoning it in at this point and milking the union teet as much as possible.
How do you phase out mail carriers? Everyone will have to go to the post office?

I am standing in line at the post office right now with the same problem. Was home both days they left notices in my mail box. Because, yeah, I really want to head down to the post office on a Saturday.
Yeah, one time I was stalking a package for my H, so I opened the door about 0.2 nanoseconds after the carrier rang the bell. He was empty handed, save for the notice he was preparing to stick on my door. Busted!!!
Also, why ring the bell if you're not even planning to leave the package?

What did he have to say for himself?
PS I got one of those 3-panel bras. Boob exoskeleton. Sure does the job, though.

He tried to act like he was waiting to bring it up because it was heavy. A single pair of shoes. Lol. I'm glad the bra worked out. I wish they weren't so pricey though. Life is just too cruel.
