I took my 3 month old to the dentist and he did great, but I was fully prepared to leave if he didn't - and to still pay the dentist for the appointment. In your case, I would never entertain the thought since you don't have a containment device for the baby (not counting the carrier b/c you can't use that). I did not take the baby to the eye doctor b/c of the reaction I got when scheduling after I said, "Well, I can do that time, but I will have an infant with me. " Shock and horror on the face of the receptionist and she magically found a space on the day that I had previously asked for when I knew I could get a sitter. So yes, it depends on the place and the baby, but I think whenever you do something like that, you have to be prepared to be the one who takes responsibility if they get cranky/fussy etc. Meaning, the doctor shouldn't lose out on getting paid b/c you had to leave early.
I never really said that I expected the staff to hold and entertain my baby. I said he's pretty chill and he is often happy for hours being carried in my woven wrap. But...you never know what might happen.
Yeah but logistically there is really no way for you to hold him, even in a wrap, while at the dentist.
