My mom was the cereal nazi growing up we could only get cheerios or rice krispies, but if we had committed like, saintly acts of heroism we could sweet talk her in to Froot Loops, so maybe those :-)

they make a reduced sugar Frosted Flake - there is also a multi-grain/whole grain Frosted Flake, but I've only seen them in our school breakfast, not in a big box.

My mom used to MIX sugar cereal and regular cereal. Like Froot Loops and Cheerios. Not too long ago, she told me she got the idea reading a magazine. Thanks, Good Housekeeping.

This is how my grandma would make us cereal as kids. She's always have like ten kinds to choose from then she'd put sugar on top. As a kid I was like yeah fuck yeah sugar wheeeeee! As an adult I'm super grossed out by it

That's so awesome :-)
Um, NO it is NOT awesome. It's a horrible thing to do to your children.

My aunt was worse. She used to sprinkle like 3 fruit loops on top for her kids and call them "croutons." You should probably go home and hug your mom now.

Pretty sure the kids had a case for emancipation in that scenario.

I like moms best cereal. Amelia loves their cinnamon toast crunch version that tastes just the same as the named brand one, but is healthier (at least that's what I tell myself anyways.) Also natures path has some knock off chocolate rice crispies cereal that is pretty good.
i mean, they're all fortified! so if you're eating them with milk, you're getting calcium with vitamins and minerals!! it's all about your threshold for sugar.
honestly, any of the cheerios family is always a good bet - whole grain, minimal sugars, oats have other positive properties.
life, oat squares, any of the chex...
but, i won't lie - i've been buying cinnamon toast crunch almost weekly!

nope. they're all emulations - which means nutritionally, MaltOMeal is targeting the brand and will be within a small tolerance of difference from the brands. the only difference is price, really.
