I took inventory today since the big consignment sale starts Tuesday. I have 26 long sleeve tops and 15 bottoms for E already in the next size up. Not to mention some long sleeve stuff in her current size that will fit for a bit.
Other than some dresses and maybe a coat, I feel like she's pretty set. Which is at least good for my wallet.

For each boy (4.5, 3 and 1.5) I usually have 10-15 tops and 7-8 bottoms in any given size. Throw in a few seasonal items and they're set. Three boys is super MM because hand-me-downs always get used by at least one kid, regardless of season/size. I buy a combo of second hand and clearance racks.
Honestly, I don't do a ton of long sleeves, around 5 total. Plus another 10-15 short sleeve. 8 leggings, 2 pair of jean type pants. Throw in some seasonal and she's good. We still need a fall jacket and a winter coat.
We're lazy parents though - if we're not leaving the house, she is often in PJs all day. I have an absurd number of PJs. Like 15-20 per size.
I try to keep it at 2 weeks worth of clothes and 1 or 2 special outfits. Then 3 maybe 4 pairs of pjs. I'm kind of a minimalist and it makes the getting ready choices easier.

So, so much. I hate to buy myself clothes, but I love to buy them for my kids. My 23 month old DS could probably go almost a month without me doing laundry. My 6 year old DD could easily go two months (except for underwear, which would need washing after about 3 weeks).
ETA: My mom and MIL buy clothes for the kids, too, but I buy most of it.
Too much for DD. I love to buy clothes (for me too!) and often score good deals at Sam's, Carters, Gymboree, Target etc. etc. She's into clothes too. Whatever I guess it's pretty fun for both of us. I try not buy too far in a size ahead, because I do buy in season still on sale a lot and I hate storing extra stuff. She has a ton of cousins and friends so I can't say the clothes are ever really wasted.
DS I'm kind of a minamlist with him. Boy clothes are all the same. I only need 3 truck shirts, 2 farm animal sleepers and fill in the rest with overkilled whales and monkeys..ha.

a lot. but i haven't bought much myself. we have hand me downs from 4 nephews. and my mom loves to buy her grandkids clothes.
in his current size: 15 onesies, mostly short-sleeved but 4 or 5 long sleeved 10 rompers 10 shorts 10 pants 3 sweatshirts 6 pjs (these are guesstimates, if anything i have more than what i listed)
Way too much. She's in 9 mo and 12 mo clothes right now, and 5 dresser drawers are totally full of just that. We got a ton of hand me downs, and I have been hitting up yard sales like crazy because I love buying her things and I don't feel guilty spending $10 on a bag full of clothes that she'll only wear for a short time.

Too many too count. I did rein it in a bit for DD1 this summer (still a lot but not out of control like the baby's clothes) and I wish I hadn't because I'd like a bit more variety.
I buy ahead very little, it's so hard to tell when DS will change sizes. He usually has 12-15 tops and 8-10 bottoms in his current size. Plus 3-4 church tops, and in the fall/winter a light jacket and heavy coat.
ETA: my budget won't allow it, but I wish I had about 50% more clothes. I *have to* do laundry every other day or we run out. DH often absentmindedly put DS in clean clothes when he wakes from his nap (rather than putting the morning's clothes back on) so that's at least 2 outfits a day, usually more. I'm constantly stealing clothes from the dryer.
Too much. In her current size DD has probably 1 months worth of clothing with no repeats except for PJ's, she only has 6 pairs of PJ's.
I love buying her clothing...along with DH I can buy straight off the rack and everything fits perfectly. For me I have to try everything on and I can't find plus size clothing her so I am limited to my few times a year trip to the States.
Much more than I think. I packed away at least 7 shorts for vacation and he had enough to cover the week before we left and more. His friend's parents love our hand me downs.

I overbought for the 1st year of life so I have less for this winter. I bought little this summer due to a huge hand me down bag.
I bought long sleeve tees, a couple of sweatshirts/vests and some pants on clearance at Kohls last spring. Everything was $60. I still need a few sets of PJs and a coat.
I am aiming for a 10 day supply of clothes, no more, and some DC spares.

We had way too much NB thru 12 month and I hated it. Now he has probably 5-8 t shirts, 4-5 pair shorts and 2 pairs pants. For the fall I'll probably buy a few zipper hoodies for the t shirts and 2-3 more pants. I don't mind doing baby laundry.
This does not include dress clothes or special occasion items.
i finally am getting to sizes where i have less. 3-6m was/is insane because it spanned cold weather and now summer so i have SO much! like, an embarrassing amount. she still fits in most of it.
i have stopped buying ahead because she grows so slowly that i have no idea when she will move up. it stinks because i think i miss out on a lot of end of season sales this way but oh well.
for fall so far i have 3 pairs of leggings, 2 pairs of jeggings, 1 other pant, 2 long sleeve shirts, 6 short sleeved shirts, 1 jacket and one skirt. she needs some sweaters, long sleeved shirts, and pjs but i am waiting until it actually gets cold and i am sure she will be in the size i bought.
i am trying to be very minimalist going forward which is SO hard because i love baby clothes.
Maybe 10 tshirts, 4 polo shirts and 7 pairs of shorts? A few short sleeve button downs. I don't go crazy buying clothes for this stage. He has a few really cute outfits and then the rest are just separates.
I have way too much for this summer. Lots of tees/leggings/shorts she rarely wears since I put her in dresses most of the time.
I just did inventory of what I have for this fall/winter and I don't have a lot other than pjs.
I really don't know when she's going to make the jump from 2t to 3t. Last winter she outgrew her 18mo pants in February and I had to go buy 24mo/2t ones. So I think for this winter I will add a few more 2t pants and then get some 3t leggings since those will be good for spring/early summer next year.
we are set on shoes for the next 2 sizes thanks to SKR sales.
I have probably 30 onesies in 6m/3-6m/3-9m, I think around 8 rompers and 10 sleepers. He'll probably be in 6m stuff for the next 3 months the way he's growing so I'll need to get some zip-up sweatshirts for fall. He has one pair of pants. I've bought some stuff in 9m but not much. I'm torn between saving on stuff and buying the cute current stuff, lol.
