In other randoms - I have this team member who cannot start a new email to save her life. I just got a question from her as a reply to a meeting notice. The question had nothing to do with the meeting and the meeting was last week. I totally missed her actual question. And I have asked her several times to please use descriptive subject lines.
I was basically steamrolled into doing so as part of a "let's learn how to can" seminar series. I am the only person in the group that has done any canning before (primarily jams/jellies).
Whee!
Is the term "Watermelon Rind Pickles" new to everyone else, too? I'd never heard of them before this...

I love watermelon rind pickles. My absolute favorite. My grandma made the best ones.

Other than prepping the rind, they don't look too hard to make:
I'm curious about the pickles. I'm not sure how many jars I will personally end up with, as it's a group effort, and I think we are only making 2-3 batches...
I feel a little weird that in this group, I'm the only one with canning experience. I'm the only one that isn't a SAHM/SAHW, and I would _totally_ do more canning if I had the time to do it. But I don't... I learned to can in highschool (maybe middle school?), and there are some super-simple online tutorials. So it feels weird that people need my help with this.

I think you got all the homemaking skills that I lack (and I'm a stay at home mom). I don't know how to knit, have never canned anything or made pickles (although my grandma made awesome pickles) and can't sew. And only a tad bit of hand sewing was taught in middle school home ec.

Hah! I never bothered with Home Ec - by the time it was offered, I was already sewing, cooking, and baking at home on my own... Instead I took Industrial Arts. (maybe there were early signs I was destined to be an engineer...)
But, I guess it means I'm reasonably prepared for the Zombie Apocalypse...
