I re-wrote my training plan yesterday. Starting next week, I begin taking a spin class and a yoga/Pilates class at my local Y. My employer gave us a great 12 week deal for classes. I talked to DH last night about my schedule and he supports the classes and updated training plan.
We finally booked a hotel for the half and I got a great deal! That is my AW!

Any issues or vents?
Not really. The humidity, of course, but week 1 went fairly well.
Highlights from the last week or anything to AW?
Nothing huge, but I nailed everything on my schedule. I also had a small mental victory on Sunday. It was so miserable out there. Low 80's temps, with humidity at 86% when we started our run. Everyone was soaked, and not feeling great. The group was doing 10, but I had 12 on the schedule, so it was a big mental victory to pass by the cars to drop them off at mile 10, and then continue on for 2 more miles on my own. I also kept the pace under 8:20.
What are you training for? Date? Tristate Throwdown, August 9th

Any issues or vents? My H is working 12-14 hour days which leaves me getting very little sleep and doing all of our household stuff myself. So I get home from the gym and cook until I go to bed. I'm exhausted.
Highlights from the last week or anything to AW? I already AW'd my results from my nutrition coach. Serious progress was made the last few months. All that choking down extra protein and not drinking ANY booze paid off in a huge way. I'm really excited about that.

Training plan for the week? M - 6m T - 8m w/4 at half pace + strength W - 10m Th - Cross + 3m F - Rest S - Cross + strenth Sun - 18m
Any issues or vents? I suck at running fast on training runs. My 4m at half pace were faster today, but tI'm still not hitting the paces I want. My hear rate tells me I'm just a slacker and not running fast enough.
Highlights from the last week or anything to AW? Today's weather is awesome.

I'm starting to worry about getting my miles in when i go back to school. I can NOT run after school in August.
Things are kind of scary going well right now. My 18 was great. Yesterday I did my 4 on a downhill grade about the same as my full will be and realized gravity is good, it's my quads that need some more downhills. Today I nailed my 10...after camping, pre Vegas. My pace miles were much faster than pace (there were 7s in there!), and while it was a challenge, I felt controlled and strong.
Training plan for the week? Run T,W,Th, Sa with cross training each day
Any issues or vents? I had some funny chest pains today and on Sat. I feel like they are related to a chest workout I did last Tuesday, but nonetheless, they are freaking me out a bit.
Highlights from the last week or anything to AW? I've been getting back into my routine of getting up earlier.

This is true. I really think you are going to be fine. I know it will take it's toll after 20+ miles, but I still think this is going to be a great course for you. I run bridges every Tuesday, think steep climbs & steep downhills. Even with the climbs, flats in between, and needing to control my downhill charge, it is always my fastest run of the week. It is not uncommon for this run to be in the 7:50s, when my other runs are 8:10ish.
What are you training for? Date? Twin Cities 5k 10/5 Monster Dash 5K-last weekend in October

I am still trying to get everything figured out with daycare, work, pumping, etc. I started WW last week and lost a pound, hopefully I can continue that trend without impacting my supply. I saw a picture of myself and did not like what I saw Highlights from the last week or anything to AW? None

What are you training for? Date? Disney 10k on 8/30
Training plan for the week? T-4 Th-3 S-2.5 S-5
Any issues or vents? Finding time to run and beat the heat has been really hard with 3 kids. I've tried getting up before them and of course the baby has a bad night so I skip my morning run. I can't wait for them older kids to go back to school in a few weeks so I can run regularly again.
Highlights from the last week or anything to AW? My 5k time is down to 32mins. I'm slowly getting better. And I ordered new running shoes from 6pm.com and I can't wait to get them in a few days.

Highlights from the last week or anything to AW? My last long brick on Saturday felt strong. Really strong. And I'm just crazy excited to do my first Half Ironman in my hometown.

What are you training for? Date?
Monster Dash 1/2 marathon 10/25 5k or 10k on 9/18

Welp, I signed up for smartcoach, so I guess I am training now! Sunday: 6 Monday: 3 with stroller Today: easy 3 Wednesday: tempo, 6 total Thursday: easy 3 Friday: off Saturday: 10 long (eeep!) I might have to knock that down to 8 considering I haven't run over 6 since May.
Any issues or vents?
During my 6 on Sunday I realized I was being a slacker on speed. I haven't been running with my garmin for a while and I definitely run slower without it!
Highlights from the last week or anything to AW?
It's silly, but at work everyone does a plank at 10am. I've been doing planks again and I am glad someone else is forcing me to do it, otherwise I wouldn't. Peer pressure works for me.
Good Morning!! Happy to be joining you ladies in this thread finally!!
What are you training for? Date? As of this week, training for Nike Women's 1/2 10/19, Lake Chabot Trail Challenge 1/2 11/9 and after that Big Sur 4/26
Training plan for the week?
Mon: Strength Tues: 3 miles hills Wed: 3x400 track intervals Thurs: 3 miles Fri: Rest Sat: 30min tempo Sun: 5 miles
Any issues or vents? I'm having trouble with the summer weekly upheaval. I thrive on routine and I really hate schedules changing every week. Last week Josh was in Australia so I couldn't get any good runs in except up and down the cul-de-sac hill I live on (which was kind of challenging, actually - that's no slubby hill!) and this week summer camp is messing with my schedule.... I"m looking forward to school starting for the kids and settling back into my routine.
Highlights from the last week or anything to AW? I have to AW how great I feel going into this training cycle. I'm fitter now at the start of training than I was last year after running Nike SF. I've got my house in order - I'm eating clean and strong, I've been doing strength training 3x/week, cross training 2x/week, running regularly all summer long, keeping my mileage a little lower at 15/week while I let my pulled muscle heal, I've been focused on form and cadence. I feel so great and I feel a huge PR coming my way in October!
Andplusalso, I have to AW that I convinced my husband to run his first half marathon with me and his training started this week too. I feel so happy to see him taking on this challenge and starting out his journey!

Training plan for the week?
M - Crosstraining Tu - NROLW + 6x800 W - (Active) Rest Th - 8mi Tempo F - NROLW Sa - Spin Su - 12mi
Any issues or vents? I started a new stage of NROLW this morning and thought I was going to die trying to do my speedwork afterwards. I also thought I was going to die doing 14mi this weekend. Basically, I just feel like I'm going to die every run I have these days
Highlights from the last week or anything to AW? Nothing stands out...

What are you training for? Date? 10k this week Rochester marathon relay September Wineglass half October 5
Training plan for the week? I should be in week two of my training - but life has an alternate plan for me.
S-rest M-cf T-cf/ 3-5 miles W-cf R-10k F-rest S-cf and maybe 5-6
Any issues or vents? I have shingles on my hip and groin. It's making running horrendous. The lymph node in my right groin flares as it wishes and just aches. So I'm running when I can and I'll continue to cf and build up my strength and do some speed work.
Highlights from the last week or anything to AW? Nada
What are you training for? Date? St. Jude Memphis 1/2 Marathon, 12/6/14
Training plan for the week? Monday--3 miles Tuesday--Rest/cross Wednesday--4 miles Thursday--3 miles Friday--Rest Saturday--5 miles Sunday--Rest/cross
Any issues or vents? The running store is not hosting a group run this saturday because they are sponsoring a 5 mile race. I don't really want to pay $20 to get my 5 miles in, but I hate running "long" runs alone!
Highlights from the last week or anything to AW? The weather here this week is great (for July)!
Post by bluedaisyus on Jul 29, 2014 21:31:37 GMT -5
I'm training for a half on 10/19.
I have no idea what I'm doing this week. It's a fall back week so at least there's that, but my wife had a make up softball game tonight and has another on Thursday, her dart league tomorrow, and a softball tournament all weekend. To add to the crazy I had to pick up our son from daycare yesterday for something that turned out to be nothing, and we're right in the middle of moving my office from one building to another during my busy week, so I will probably be working over a lot and have no idea when I'll be able to fit anything in.
But I had my longest run ever on Saturday at 7.7 miles and I felt (and feel) great!

Any issues or vents? Heat. Humidity. Not enough time in the day. Same old, same old. I feel good - healthy and strong - so that's a major plus. Must focus on that.
Highlights from the last week or anything to AW? Not really. Just keep on, keeping on here.
