Our mailman drives a van into the neighborhood and then walks to the houses. He moves his van every two blocks or so, but only drives down the number streets, so he walks between those.
Ours walks. We don't have any mailboxes along the street, most are screwed onto the house by the front door. We changed ours to a slit into the garage years ago after having issues with not getting it (I guess my parents thought people were stealing it? I don't know)
Growing up we had a box at the end of the driveway and the mailman drove. In MA, the mailmen walked at both places I lived. Now, all our neighbors' mailboxes are clustered at the end of our lane so the mailperson drives up and fills all of them at once. We have to walk further to check it, but not that far.
we have a box that happens to be out front but it's 9 mailboxes so it's not in front of everyone's house. It's not in the front of our complex, just every few houses is the collection of mailboxes
Our mailbox is at the end of the driveway, so ours drives. He does out packages up on the front porch if they don't fit in the box though. At my parents house the mailman walks - I don't think there's any mailboxes at the end of the driveway, they all have slots on the door in their neighborhood/area.
