We booked our trip! We are going next week. We are staying at one of the places with a shuttle.
Tell me all about good strategy and things to do and things to avoid. I want to do a character meal, like breakfast with Elmo. Is it worth the money. Should I pay for Elmo the Musical?
Anything else we should do while we are in the area?

Elmo the musical is free, no? We saw it but left bc V was scared. Definitely do the parade and plan on the water park. I like the show at Abby's theater bc it has all of the characters and fun songs.

Oh, maybe the tickets I saw are for the VIP experience. Thanks for the info!

We just got back last week...the girls loved it!
We got there Monday, went to the park from 3-close. We saw an Elmo show, rode the rides, ate dinner at Elmo's Eatery, got pictures with characters, and saw the parade. People line up almost an hour beforehand, but we still got a good spot about 30 minutes prior to the start. Minus the water park, we saw a lot on the first day, even though we were only there half the day.
Tuesday was our full day at the park. We got there right when it opened, and headed straight to the cabana that we rented for the day. The cabana is pricey, but it's private, and I loved that we could keep all of our stuff there, go back and relax, and change our clothes in one spot. We rode rides until lunchtime, then did a character lunch. After lunch, we hit the water rides, went to Abby's show at 4:45, ate dinner at Cookie Monster Cafe, played games, and left during the parade.
*People walk around in their bathing suits the whole day, but we didn't. So we designated a good part of our day to water only rides, and the girls were fine with that. Plus, I didn't feel comfortable just walking around in my swim stuff.
*the park is totally doable in one full day, so don't worry about not having enough time to do things. The park itself, is not that big.
*does your hotel offer free breakfast? That was a deciding factor in what character meal we choose. We ate breakfast at our hotel, then did the lunch. I felt the character lunch had more kid friendly options to eat, too.
*you can pack a small cooler, so bring drinks and snacks. That way you could save some money.
*we put together a package that included hotel, meal plan, and tickets. Check the website to see if they have any special offers.
*the cabana also included a private visit with Zoe, and VIP to meet the other characters, free drinks, and 6 beach towels that you could take home.
Let me know if you have any more questions
Eta: we stayed right across the street, but the shuttle pickup is right outside the park, so you definitely don't have to walk far.
pinkpeony6210, sounds like you guys had a great time! I am going to google the cabanas. We'll definitely take a trip there when V is a bit older since it's not too far from here.
Out of curiosity, how did you have Kate nap? Or did she just skip it on the full park day?

The girls didn't really nap for three days...lol. Aside from a catnap in the car on our travel days (it's about a 6.5 hour car ride), that was it. Surprisingly, we didn't gave any crazy meltdowns, but they were definitely exhausted after the full park day.
Eta: we're usually pretty strict about naps, but because it was such a short trip, skipped them. Our hotel was right across the street, so if they really, really needed them, we could've took a break from the park for a bit, and went back.
eta again...some people had their little ones nap in their cabana. They just pulled a lounge chair in, and shut the curtain.

That is awesome that they were able to hang in there without naps! V skipped her nap for the first time the other day and she was a bear all evening. But I guess at Sesame Place, there was so much to do and see it would keep them distracted and having fun!
ruby412, I don't know what time V naps, but they sell discounted tickets after 3. Since you aren't too far, you could potentially do that.
Thanks, lady. We will have to check that out! It's about 1 - 1.5 hours away, so it just seems like a lot of driving to do in one afternoon though. Maybe next summer when she's more likely to be able to skip her nap.

It's around an hour- that's how long it took me to get to your house- maybe less since it's right at route 1
