So last week I googled my ex-fiance who I haven't seen in like 15 years. I looked at his LinkedIn page. And then yesterday I got an email from LinkedIn saying he had looked at mine. DAMN DAMN DAMN!
I don't know if I'm more embarrassed with myself for looking in the first place, or for not stalking more discreetly.
I get notifications that DH's ex gf is looking at mine - it's all I can do not to go browse hers...she's a hot mess and I'm sure it would be entertaining. I've contemplated making a false linkdin just to peek...
You can change it so it doesn't show who was looking. It will just tell her an "anonymous member" looked at her profile.
I don't know who mimi is, and while I appreciate her naming names, it would be better if it was an actual GBCN poster. It's like if we started talking shit about anka. Wrong decade.
I had ones with clips for years, but our most recent one has ties inside that you tie to the corners of the comforter. MAGIC!!!! So much better than the clips (which tend to come undone -- but I can see how binder clips would be better in that respect).
So I highly recommend one like that, if you can find one (or else I'm sure you could sew ties on, if you know how to sew).
So, my first post was the short version. Long version, I read all about the ties, the ones you can buy and people who sew their own. The latter is not even a remote possibility for me. I also read about duvet donuts, which seemed to have better reviews than the clips, but for some reason, I just didn't like the look of them. I settled on the ties and even found a duvet cover I like. Also, I stumbled onto this little ditty below, but I decided that this might be venturing into a whole new land of lazy with which I might not be comfortable. Sometimes, I can take lazy too far and I end up feeling guilty. I'm going to sleep on it. <--see what I did there?
I go to a University of Maryland state school now, it charges in state and out of state tuition
Where I got my masters degree was a private university, it had the same rate regardless of residency
Well, yes, that is entirely due to the fact (again) that state schools receive federal and state funding through taxes that residents of that state pay. Private schools receive no such funding, so the students who attend them are expected to pay higher tuition to make up for the fact the school doesn't get subsidies.
I think you think we are debating something, I know all of the above, jus trying to point out there are options
Well, I missed a couple of posts. Damn work making me work. Looks like hellonurse needs ((((hugs))))) And maybe a few others that proofed.
Here's my flameful (in a so MM flameful way). I got this parking ticket today, 07/29/14. I was illegally parked. I'm thinking of being a PIA and fighting it bc it's dated 08/29/14.

Tell us what it was about and I'm sure we (*cough* Kore *cough*) can help you remember
I've been trying to remember which post it was. Then I started remembering some threads where I got flammed or criticized.
I remember posting about H getting a bonus and I got flammed. My newbie mistakes were:
1. I used the word "HUGE" (or something similar) in caps at the title, like HUGE bonus or BIG bonus 2. I did not add AW on the title.
The amount was not even on the big dog category, but some of the big dogs started posting about how they get 6 figure bonuses and how upset they will be if they get less than 6 figures.
Another one was when I was asking about will provisions. Why shouldn't the kid/s get all the money sooner than 30, and why spread it out. And that it was BS that the money can't be used for any $$$$$$ school.
Then another was when I said my kiddo got a monetary gift. I really don't understand (even now) why that was flammable but not the others who posted their kids getting expensive toys or tons of clothes/toys.

Whut?
Dollars for donuts you didn't get flamed for those errors, there was clearly something else going on. And if you think that you were in fact flamed for that, you need thicker skin, stat. That may also explain why you think Tosa flamed you....

All of this makes me miss major MM drama (heart)
The rules of posting about your own finances, as far as I can discern them:
1. It is fine to post about money struggles as long as you are willing to accept 100% of the advice given to you on MM. If you do not accept all advice, you will be flamed.
2. It is fine to post about your solid financial position/salary/housing cost/etc., as long as it isn't enviable. If it is such that it causes many others to be jealous, you will be flamed/disliked/subject to heightened scrutiny (on this board and probably also on ML, even if you never post there). If it is simply solid, you will be one-upped, either straight out or with comments along the lines of "I'm SO JEALOUS that you can get a house in your area for $300,000. I HAD to pay $500,000 for mine. Ugh, it sucks to live in the HCOL area I choose to live in."
3. Because of (2), many people with enviable financial circumstances do not feel like they can post about them, leading to lots of "How come the outliers here never post about their finances even though we'd probably all love to hear about them?" posts.

LOL. Probably. I was called bragging, a show-off, etc. Ha! I think that thread scared me a lot and made me think twice about posting actual $ amount after that.

I forgot to add. I really think I was flamed for those errors because that's what some posters said. I was bragging because OMG I used all caps and didn't bother to add AW on the title. I learned later about writing AW a must when someone pointed it out to another newbie and that if she didn't, people will jump on her.

Just because somebody told you to add an AW doesnt mean you got flamed. Ive never seen anybody get flamed for such a thing either.
Id really encourage you to find the original thread and prove me wrong. The nest gets hormonal, so it's possible, but I imagine your memory is either skewed or your way over sensitive.
For reference, do you think you are being flamed now?

I don't think that there's an "all AW posts must be accompanied by an 'AW' disclaimer in the title" rule. If someone was like "You forgot to put AW in the title" it was probably just their snarky(ish) way of pointing out that the post was AWy in nature. And AWy posts are only tolerated in certain circumstances*
(*well, but seemingly in all circumstances from certain posters, and in no circumstances from other certain posters -- this place can be hard to navigate)
I'd like to hear Mimi's definition of a flaming. It sounds to me like a Reply.
Since I was called a brag and a show-off, I've considered that thread as a flaming thread. I felt I was attacked/belittled. I was so excited about a decent bonus so I used some caps. Then ended up getting replies that the bonus is peanut since some big dogs get 6-figures.

Yeah. I saw AW posts from others with no AW disclaimer and they got positive replies. So when I got negative reaction from the board, I was at a lost why. Maybe no one could be excited for me since I was a newbie (no one knew me) and was seen as someone just joining in and posting on the board to only brag.

So you "remembered" all of this but couldn't remember your SN? If you "remembered" by finding the post on TN, link to it here.
I am considering pilfering four butterfly binder clips from the office supply room at work for use on my duvet. I haven't done it yet. It is not ethical. But I don't feel like spending $6 and going to Bed Bath and Beyond for real ones.
Um, then I guess my confession is that I'm unethical. Like, 100x over.
Heck, we used to call my husband's supply closet at work the office supply store. As in "We need paper/pens/markers. Can you pick some up at the office supply store before you head home?"
The fears thread on ML has left me paranoid. Based on our current knowledge of family histories, it is likely that I will outlive DH by a long while, and Alzheimer's is prevalent in my family. I am seriously afraid I'm going to be 80, have Alzheimer's and no one's going to know or care.
So in the 40 or so years when we're all still on here, check in on me please.
About a year ago I did 23 And Me (the genetics thing) specifically to find out my risk of Alz. I already have outlived my husband, and I already lose sleep at night worrying about "What if I become senile and someone takes advantage of me and the kids don't realize it until it's too late?" Of all the data they tell you (and they used to tell you a lot; I think the FDA shut that down recently) my risk of Alz (low) is the only thing I can remember without having to look up my account. I'll check in on you.
I had to go to Hobby Lobby once since the Supreme Court ruling came down. I was pissed and annoyed that I couldn't find what I needed elsewhere and couldn't wait to order what I needed of the internet and thus, had to go to HL. I stole something just to spite them.

Speaking of HL, an otherwise very intelligent friend of mine and a bunch of her friends that I don't know are all bent out of shape because of this story. I left a comment about it being satire and that to the best of my knowledge no one would be losing a hand any time soon.
